Found on an Apple KB. "They were parts of an older OS and no longer exist. The launchd plists should have been removed. The part that is wrong are the plists, not the executables." Extended Survey Program. This <might> be some kind of, well, survey program by Canon. I'm not sure about this. Do you have a Canon printer/scanner?? You used that option within what, the web site, digest, or your favorite third party email app? I assume the digest, and it does a horrible job of quoting and gives no attribution. Brent On Nov 6, 2019, at 7:09 PM, Bob Stern via Groups.Io wrote: Daniel, |

I use the Apple Mail program. In the digests there is at the bottom of each message options to reply. I used The “View/Reply online” option.? As I am typing this on my iPad I noticed a button to “Show quoted text.” I tapped that button because I am curious as to how that will display this response. You used that option within what, the web site, digest, or your favorite third party email app? ?

开云体育It would be better if it showed when the quote started and ended like older versions of Mail.app. I like clarify in communication. Brent, on my iPad On Nov 7, 2019, at 6:39 AM, Bob Stern via Groups.Io <bobbystern@...> wrote:

Using the Apple mail.app, I am replying to this post. Please notice that (at least on my screen) the quoted text is BLUE and acknowledges the original poster. Apple mail.app seems to work as it always has. Of course, YMMV.

The startup "thing" might be some kind of Canon survey. I'd check Library and Preference folders for odd Canon things and check the Canon web sites for a reference to this. Bob, it came through on my end with the quote in blue, "On (date & time etc)" with the line along the left edge. This make it very easy to recognize as a quote from who and when.

开云体育From the groups.io email digest... Using iOS the “Show quoted text” button had no affect on my reply. Using iOS I can’t show the quoted content without copying and pasting. 开云体育Glad it worked for you. It is not working for me on my iPad. Date: Thu, 07 Nov 2019 13:31:06 PST? Bob, it came through on my end with the quote in blue, "On (date & time etc)" with the line along the left edge. This make it very easy to recognize as a quote from who and when. |

Yes, it works somewhat differently on a Mac.
Using iPad or iPhone, one would usually HIGHLIGHT using your finger on a portion of the text you want to quote, then expand the upper left and lower right to encompass the entire text that you want to quote then hit reply. Then type your comment above the quoted material. If you just hit reply, then it will quote the entire previous post. Generally speaking, iOS apps have always been a simplified subset of the Mac apps. I apologize for my former reply as I didn’t understand that you were using iOS mail as opposed to Mac mail. I’ll chime in with a comment on what’s happened with the move to : It’s now very difficult to read a conversation on the iPhone. I don’t receive digests, but threads on the iPhone “hide” the message content between the boilerplate forum links, as opposed to on the Mac, where all that “stuff” is discretely displayed at the bottom of individual messages, which in turn are better separated from each other than they are in iOS. What I see on my iPhone Xr is essentially what I see on my iMac. And the display on my iPad Pro is the same.

You should see quoted text under this post. Have you checked the settings to see if something is amiss? I’m scratching my head on this one. 开云体育Jim, I have your entire message (as seen on my iPad and my iPhone) quoted below. It looks exactly the same on those devices as on my Mac, allowing for screen size differences. All the groups.io references are neatly at the bottom. If that's not how they appear on your devices, we must have some setting somewhere set differently. On Nov 8, 2019, jimrobertson wrote:

I think we’re actually talking about two different looks at the same portion of a large elephant. I read messages on my Mac in threaded fashion, , wherein a portion of the current thread looks like the first attachment: Note that at the bottom of the message window, there’s a bunch of boilerplate links, but quoted text in the body of the message is easy to distinguish from my own content. Now, here’s a group of screenshots from my iPhone that show portions of two messages in sequence. It’s much harder to separate the boilerplate links from the message body, and within the message body, my own text from quotation text, even though the quoted material appears in different color, because almost all of the screen is occupied much of the time by all those boilerplate links: All this could be simplified if the user could compress the display of all those boilerplate links. Perhaps that’s already possible. |

开云体育This is a legit question not snark. Did you intend to have the quoted content in your reply? As you can see below it did not display.
