Jim - ?I know it’s past Christmas but here are a couple things re backward/mirrored ?text/font on Mac. ?This is what I found online a few minutes ago but I also found a place ON one of my Mac's apps - but now I’ve lost track of that, too. ?There’s some program (“Mail?”) which will do it but … ????). ?

Thanks so much. That should do it. Everyone in my stepson’s family has a Mac save for for his gaming wizard son, whose mantra is that if you cannot strip it down to bare metal and build a brand new but different gaming box from the case up, it’s just a toy. HE's now facing a dilemma as a graphic design major freshman college student that some courses DEMAND he use a Mac. But everyone else in the family prefers Macs.

I bought it refurbished at Other World Computing with a 2 year warranty which expired in November last year.

Been considering getting a Macbook Air anyway. Must be time.

After wiggling the cable to see what might be loose, one thunderbolt port has completely stopped working. Guess that port was the problem. The other seems ok.

Hi:
I have a lot of photos and would like to delete some off my phone without losing them on my Mac. Everything is in the Cloud. When I have tried to delete something, it is deleted off everything.
Thanks.

If it is under warranty, take it in. If it is out of warranty, sounds like a user issue.?

I am currently going thru a deceased friends electronics to reset them to factory default, and many of his connectors are loose and there are several damaged cables. These are newer than my hardware which doesn’t have any loose connectors.?

Yesterday I noticed that even though audio is being routed to my HAs, the icon displayed on the Sound control is a headphone, not the ear as I expected.

I listen to my MacBook Pro frequently through my BT enabled hearing aids (they’re not over-the-ear acoustic wonders, but even gargantuan things like Mahler symphonies sound better than not listening—and of course, after 2 trips to the local Cinema to see A Complete Unknown, my end-of-eighth decade ears are being treated to a reverie of growing of age memories from the 1960s).

But, on topic: I’ve NEVER seen an “ear” icon in the menubar, and my iPhone also shows an image of over the ear headphones.

FWIW.

iPadOS 18 Control Panel’s Sound Control Icon

I wear HAs (Hearing Aids) that I connect to my iPad. ?In the past, I was always able to readily see that they were connected by looking at Control Panel’s Sound control, where:
? ? ?speaker = iPad’s speaker
? ? ?headphone = headphones?
? ? ?ear = hearing aids

Yesterday I noticed that even though audio is being routed to my HAs, the icon displayed on the Sound control is a headphone, not the ear as I expected.
?
I’m wondering whether anyone else has noticed this? ?I’m running iPadOS 18.2.
?
As an aside, I’m also having more HAs connectivity issues. ?I used to very infrequently encounter such problems.

Both actually, but more the second.

One can format a rotating disk drive with APFS, it does not have to be HFS+.

99% of all website programmers program for windows, not accepted standards. Because it is easier for them.

Thanks for your suggestions, Chris. I think that what I’ve done on my spouse’s new Mac Air (sporting slightly earlier versions of macOS Sonoma and Safari coming out of its shipping box), with the same site NOT causing these problems offers clues that it’s not JUST the site’s coding that’s causing the issue.

You say “JUST the site’s coding” but isn’t it the job of any browser to deal with any such issues as part of what it routinely does?

Thank you Jim Robertson for including a link to this article.

This is unrelated to the OP’s issue, but did me resolve one I had, an shows the similarities between the current macOSes and iOSes.

I recently posted about getting a message that I needed more Storage (I got it correct this time) to install iOS 18 on my iPhone.

While skimming the article, I looked in Settings> General> iPhone Storage and noticed Apple usd the same graphic format as the article showed used in more current macOSes. So I dug around and deleted a few unused Apps, then checked to see if iOS 18 was agreeable to being installed. It was.

My issue was resolved. Thanks , Jim.

And it showed me why there was so much vocal resistance to change with iOS 18. There are many changes in this version.
Yes! I don’t recall any iOS version having so many changes compared with the previous version, as 18.
