Re: Mail on Mac and iOs devices suddenly stopped syncing...
Thanks Bev. ?I thought that might be it. ?But it¡¯s really annoying that you have to do the updates to get something as basic as this to keep working. ?Some of us don¡¯t want to update until apps we use have been updated and work reliably with new OS versions. ?

I think I have solved my problem. I used a 3rd-party tool to delete the Spotlight index, and let it re-index itself overnight. I just tried a few recent failed searches, and now they work.

The FInder search function hasn¡¯t worked properly for me for years. ?I can have items sitting on the desktop, or even open in preview mode, all included in the Spotlight indexing, that it can¡¯t find. ?I¡¯ve been using EasyFind instead.?

I noticed this too. ?But I only updated macOS and haven¡¯t done iOS yet. ?There is also a notice that I have agree to new terms for iCloud which is probably involved here. ? Finding stuff
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI use a search in Finder so frequently that I have created a hotkey for it distinct from regular Spotlight Search. In the past I noted that Spotlight skipped some folders or some categories completely, which the Finder search did not. For a few days I have noticed that my usual Finder search is failing to find files or directories that it has found before and which I KNOW to be present on my drive. I have the free EasyFind App, which still finds these files and can show me where they are located, but this is less convenient that simply using Finder. Does anyone have a clue why Sequoia is failing to find some files? --? Jim Saklad |
Mail on Mac and iOs devices suddenly stopped syncing...
Up until recently - iOs update - emails deleted from my Mail account on my Mac would "normally" be deleted from my iPhone and iPad once re-synced.
However, now they remain... and I have to delete them manually from the iOs devices. But these then show up on my Mac in the deleted files folder... where I have to manually delete them again (to Trash) and empty the Trash to totally get rid of them. Anyone got a fix for this? Mail is synced all across my devices in the iCloud settings... so I am at a loss... Thx |

Problem solved
I finally contacted Apple about the problem I was having with my new mac since the upgrade.? It took 6 techs on the chat platform, two days, and over 4 hours. Everything they tried did NOT work. Finally the last tech said he would have someone call, and when that wonderful man in Austin called and got into my computer..Voila..It was fixed. it was just where i new the problem was ..in the lock screen..the area that would give hte option for no password required was grayed out. One of the techs even had me set up the iphone mirroring so I could undo it. While the man was on the phone, I gave Apple permission to go into my computer. I followed the reds arrow, and quickly, it was done..and I am now a happy camper. ..and my computer doesn't ask for the password when coming out of sleep mode
as for the other thing that the keyboard shortcut for sleep doesn't work, I can live with that. Who knows, perhaps the next upgrade, if i am brave enough to do it, might just fix that Jeannie |
Re: Sequoia annoyance
It's to do with the iphone mirroring app. When I initially set it up, i did not want to be asked each time to authenticate. That option somehow triggered the mac to ask for password after sleeping, screen saving etc..... a huge annoyance. So I had to reconnect the app then disable that choice and it was fixed. |
Re: Sequoia annoyance
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Did you find iPhone Mirroring annoying, or not useful, or did you disable it just because using it triggered the password requirement for unlocking your screen?

Sequoia annoyance
Gurus,
I hope you can help.
I am just now using Sequoia, which is fast and good. However.... ?Every time my screen saver starts or the macbook pro sleeps, i have to log in with my password. Before Sequoia, i enabled the screen saver to start at 2 minutes, now I've changed it to 10 minutes, because i have a lot of 2-10 minute distractions. I get an energy saver alert if I set it for more than 10 minutes. (13-inch, 2020, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)? Any way to disable this?? In the Lock Screen section there's stuff about password being required if iphone mirroring is set to automatically authenticate. However, after initially enabling that feature, I removed the macbook pro from my iphone entirely. Hope there is a fix for this. Thank you in advance Hester |
Re: Just ordered an M4 Mac mini
You will be very pleased. I replaced my M1 Mini (16GB / 1TB) with an M4Pro Mini (24GB/2TB).?
Received in about half the original estimated delivery time, shipped from TN.?
Using a Thunderbolt 4 cable and the native Migration Tool was seamless, and only a couple of hours.?
Price was reasonable with Apple Military Veteran program.?
