Thank you for the additional information. These are things I hadn¡¯t even considered, so now I need to consider them. Maybe Bear allows a free trial. I¡¯m a little concerned about the idea of no folders, though.

Thank you. I don¡¯t like the idea of a subscription but I am happy to pay a one-time fee or even an annual subscription if inexpensive enough.
I don¡¯t know what Markdown is or WYSIWYG (I know what that stands for, but are you saying it¡¯s an actual app?).
The stuff I don¡¯t like about Notes is the lack of formatting. It¡¯s basic to the point of making it less functional. I also saw that Bear has Tags, which is great. I can¡¯t imagine why they would make you pay for syncing, though. Doesn¡¯t the Cloud take care of that?
WYSIWYG = What you see is what you get. ?This is what most folks use. ?You turn on bold and you immediately see your selection in bold, without any special formatting characters being displayed.
With Markdown you enter special characters in your writing indicating you want something to be bold. ?From what I¡¯ve read, Bear only shows the final formatted document after you export it. ?For example, you would see the following in your note...
*this will be in bold* and /this will be in italics/
but you would not see the characters in bold or italics until after it has been exported. ?That is presuming that what I read was true. ?Bear has keyboard shortcuts available to make using Markdown simpler. ?
On their website ( ??),?they say that they have both monthly and yearly subscriptions.
Regarding hashtags in Apple Notes, you can always add them inside notes and then search based on those tags. ?But maybe I¡¯m missing something on that because I don¡¯t use them myself. ?From comments that I read, Bear¡¯s only means of organization is those hashtags. ?It doesn¡¯t have folders.
The following article says that Bear formats text as you type, but doesn¡¯t explain what happens if you want to edit what you wrote. ?So, you may want to try it out to see how it works.
- Hybrid Markdown editor.?You don¡¯t have to imagine what your formatted Markdown will look like after you write because Bear formats text as you type. SUCH a helpful feature.
