HDMI cables
Hi was having trouble with my TiVo. I couldn¡¯t watch live TV or get to my programs list. I turned off the TiVo and after it restarted, the same problem. I changed batteries in the remote - didn¡¯t work. I switched the HDMI cable from one input to another - no change. Finally I replaced the HDMI cable and voil¨¢ everything worked.
My question to the group - how does an HDMI cable go bad? One day everything works and the next day it doesn¡¯t. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBeth may have found your answer but I want to tell you my experience. ?When we built our home I had purchased Monster HDMI cables thinking they were great. ?The quality of the video wasn¡¯t that good so I purchased AudioQuest Chocolate & boy are they great, I now only use that brand for any HMDI needs, TV¡¯s & Computer.? Thanks Beth. These two reasons speak volumes to me:

4. Cable Quality: Lower-quality cables may not meet the necessary specifications for high-bandwidth signals. Over time, they may degrade and fail to transmit signals correctly. The cable I took out was thinner and more flexible than the one I replaced it with. 8. Age: Over time, materials used in the cable can degrade, leading to failure. The bad cable has been in use for years. The cable I took out was thinner and more flexible than the one I replaced it with. I looked up AudioQuest Chocolate HDMI cables on Amazon and oh boy are they expensive. They might be worth it but I can¡¯t justify it. BTW there were no AudioQuest Chocolate cable but there were Cinnamon, Vodka, Forest, Pearl, Thunderbird, Blueberry, and Carbon HDMI cables. 2-3 foot cables were anywhere from $29.95 to $199.95 depending on the flavor you bought. I realize you get what you pay for but in the 5-10 years that HDMI cables have been the standard I have bought $10 cables and have only had to replace 1 so I will stay with what I have. Thanks. I don¡¯t blame you Harry. Not much goes on in my life but I go all out on tech stuff.
