I didn’t read your original message carefully enough to let Indianapolis sink in. I’d try three things to start with:

(1) While logged into the new user’s account, check System Settings…>General>Language & Region.

(2) Try changing the city in PIA to something else, just to see if its default is messed up. By the way, to my surprise, PIA does have a Romanian POP.

(3) Peek at your PIA settings via the ? popup in the upper right-hand corner. There are choices for language and multi hop buried in there.

Also, by change the POP Setting do you mean the location? As I said the location is set for Indianapolis and I don’t know why it thinks I am in Romania.

I use Montreal as my POP much of the time during the summer because that fools MLB into letting me watch Reds games, and I choose something like Chicago otherwise so Amazon doesn’t give me Canadian prices.

On my Macintosh I created a second user to be able to test stuff.

PIA is enabled but it says it is connecting through Indianapolis

Yet when I open a browser window I get a message in Romanian. When I log on to google it thinks I am in Romania and wants to know if that’s okay.

In my primary user account this doesn’t happen?


Should I delete this second user?

I don't know their pricing as it varies with which plan you pick but I strongly recommend HostMySite.com Harry.
Originally years ago, Hosting.com was based right here in Louisville.? They were eventually purchased by HostMySite, who has always done a good job for me.

Oh, and I forgot .... Mail can sit for 5 minutes first saying "Checking for Mail..." and then "Downloading 1 message". This could be a symptom of it trying to traverse all the endless email folders I have in my account (mostly for old travel info)?

Slow downloads on my iPhone

 

Hi all,

I've run into a problem at home, where my iPhone suddenly will start downloading at less than 1 Mbps instead of the usual ~90 Mbps, and upload at ~30 Mbps instead of the usual ~90 Mpbs. My laptop will still be uploading and downloading full speed at the same location as the phone.

Neither restarting my iPhone, nor turning of private relay fixed the problem, but power cycling the router has fixed the problem 2 out of 2 times, so it seems that the problem is with the router (or with something my iPhone is doing to the router's memory).

What would cause this?
