Re: Screenshot 2024-07-29 at 9.35.39 AM
I¡¯ve seen that a few times, but what I¡¯m experiencing is I¡¯m asking a site to send me a ¡®forgot your password¡¯ email, or some kind of confirmation about their site. I¡¯ll go to mail and I see the email pop up and then disappear. Ok it must be in junk- nope not there or anywhere else. I can¡¯t figure where it goes.

Apple Mail Junk folder
Hi all,
Has anyone else had Apple's junk filter start behaving strangely? For some reason (for me) confirmation emails from airlines, bank statements, and other places I routinely get and read email have started to be filtered into Junk. If this does happen, are there tips for how to train the filter better? I do take things from Junk that are not junk and move them into my inbox. Is there something better? Bill |

Re: AppleCare
Tough question. Just some brainstorming here...
Everyone has a different risk aversion level. I never buy the AppleCare. If a machine dies it just gives me the excuse to buy the latest and greatest. YMMV. If you are attached to that device and want to be sure you won¡¯t prematurely be without it, $60 isn¡¯t that much either. Another thing is that you don¡¯t use yours for work much, so even if the machine is getting a little long-in-the-tooth, it should still meet your needs for years to come. In that case the $60 might be worth it. Good luck with your decision, Harry. I was looking at that yesterday, Harry, and was thinking that they were the first company to $2T valuation, the first company to $3T valuation and I wouldn¡¯t be surprised if they are also the first to hit $4T.
Wish I hadn¡¯t sold mine. It¡¯d be worth almost $9.5 million today. All I would have had to do was just leave it and do nothing to it¡ªnot even add to it--for 25 years. It depends what kind of control you¡¯re looking for. If you use your own router, you might be able to keep miscreants out of your devices with a good firewall, but the ISP can always monitor all your traffic at their switch. Strong privacy apparently requires a VPN and maybe even Tor. L^2 |

Thanks, so the only control is to purchase your own modem?

Re: to buy or not to buy a modem
No, I'm thinking locked down means that they have locked me out of seeing things like activity over the modem etc. Out of ignorance, I wonder what could be built into the modem for snooping activity and selling to the highest bidder.

Since I had never used her devise PayPal ask to use PassKey on another device, yes. I picked up the iPhone it did two face scans & PayPal opened on her iPad & completed the purchase. That was so cool!

Re: to buy or not to buy a modem
OK... Spectrum brought a modem (the next day at 8am promptly), so I didn't buy a modem. When I went to look online about how to get into the modem to change any settings, all I could find was that Spectrum has the modems locked down so no end user can get into them. Even looking up the modem make and model yields nothing but references to locked-down Spectrum modems. Yay.
