Test post

You won¡¯t hear from me very often, but know I¡¯m stalking this group, just hoping to keep my mind active and looking for Apple tips. I¡¯m a retired school technology coordinator. I automated 6 libraries on the fly with Apple IIe and a floppy disk drive When I began my start with technology. When I retired, I was coaching teachers and students in the use of Power Point, electronic grade books, and networking. It¡¯s fascinating to me to hear what you all are doing.

Re: Test post

Hi Penny,

In the early 80s I was the librarian at Ascension School here in Louisville. I was asked to establish a computer lab and gave the powers that be two choices and fortunately they chose the Apple //e computer for the lab. There was a lot of parental input and they were pretty vociferous about not wanting pcs.

I had a cataloguing program for the //e which was very helpful. But I never got around to automating the library. There wasn¡¯t much affordable library automation software back them. When I left they hired two people to replace me - a librarian and a computer person. That was very gratifying.

Re: Test post

I guess this is my first post to become official on the new server. I¡¯ll use it by saying:
Welcome to the group Penny! I¡¯m sure you have some good stories of the early beginnings with Apple at your libraries. Don¡¯t keep them to yourself.
Thanks to all for keeping this list going.

Venom - first real question to the new listserve

Will someone explain Venmo to me? I know it¡¯s a part of PayPal.

Why, if I have a PayPal account do I want or need a Venmo Account?

Is it secure?

Will it be useful.

My eBay maven wonderful wife uses PayPal to receive payment for items she has sold and to pay for items she buys. Will Venmo be useful on eBay?

As always your expertise and help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Harry, lots of folks use it, a search brought up the following.?

John

Venmo has been?repeatedly criticized for security breaches of user accounts and painfully slow customer service. ... After gaining access to a user's account, hackers can easily change passwords, linked email addresses and bank accounts unbeknownst to the legitimate user.

Yet another site blocks PIA

I just tried to logon to a ticketmaster concert site and received this message:

I turned PIA off and had no problems accessing the site.

I am going to keep track of all the web sites that block PIA

?Harry-
I use Venmo with people I know, such as family members (¡®hey Dad, send me some money¡¯), and friends on tennis team (¡®I¡¯ll pick up the lunch tab, you can Venmo me your share¡¯). It has settings to allow the transaction to be public - in the sense that any one you deal with can see your transactions and vice versa. My settings are always set as private, but the younger crowd likes it the other way. I¡¯ve heard a few stories of customer service not helping but to me it¡¯s a convenient service.
