W1HKJ - url is redirected?
Dave (W1HKJ), having issues pulling up your site for any docs.
?
Can't tell if it's your hosting provider or Cloudflare or my ISP's DNS, but I'm getting anything to the w1hkj domain redirected to the British Sundial Society site. Anyone else seeing this? Any help to narrow it down would be good.

Re: FT8 Ops in Unix
Fred,
?
Don't blame you.? I was basically in the same boat a few months ago.? I had run my ham hobby on a windows, XP, 7, 10, and 11 machines along with lots of automation, rotor programs, contest programs, etc, etc.? I had reached the end of what I was willing to put up with on Windows and decided to make the switch.?
?
I have not tried wine bottles or crossover as just mentioned.? Perhaps that is worth a try and maybe the best of both worlds.?

Re: FT8 Ops in Unix
If you plan to stay with HRD, then why not just stay with Windows?? Setting up a Linux machine and then running your ham station in a VM on the Linux machine is not overly complicated, but, it is quite a bit more involved than just plugging a USB into a native windows machine.
?
HRD has no Linux version at the moment, though, they say they would like to do a Linux version someday.
?
WSJT-X and Gridtracker both natively run on Linux.?

Re: FT8 Ops in Unix
Not familiar with Grid Tracker.? But Fldigi and WSJT-X run well on most versions of Linux.? It would be simpler to install those natively on a Linux system.? Maybe somebody here can give you suggestions for a Linux equivalent of Grid Tracker. 73, Harry Bloomberg W3YJ On Sat, Jan 18, 2025 at 3:32?PM Fred Hollendorfer, W0SP via <phredyh=[email protected]> wrote:

FT8 Ops in Unix
I¡¯m currently using Ham Radio Deluxe, WSJT-X and Grid Tracker on my Win 10 machine. Works very well. I¡¯m considering switching to Unix. My understanding is that HRD is a Windows Ap and will not work on Unix unless used on a VM. I¡¯m guessing that I would install a VM on Unix and run all three of my FT8 programs in windows. All suggestions welcome.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJust started - literally today - playing with Qlog. ADIF import went without a problem and rig control via hamlib, after decreasing the polling interval, works like a charm. I quite like the interface but I'm just trying work out if/how I can change the DX cluster from hamqth. Unlike you I'm using LM22 and installed the Qlog flatpak (which also installed TQSL), but I do know that Ubuntu can be configured to support flatpak pkg's. For example, see If you
don't want to use flatpak I know Qlog authors publish a PPA
which you can use to install using a deb pkg. Unlike CQRlog, Qlog uses SQLlite as a DB engine so there's no need to install MariaDB. Anyway just my two pennies worth and something that might be worth considering. As I said I've just started playing with Qlog so my current view of this logging app may change the more I use it. 73 Mark

Similar to KX4QC, I have also had success with CQRLOG on Mint 22 which is very similar to Ubuntu.?
?
I do not believe CQRLOG is under active development by the original authors any longer.? However, an "Alpha" version is being actively developed and maintained by Saku OH1KH and details can be found at:
?
?
Questions on the CQRLOG Forum ( ?? ) are generally answered by someone within a day or two including install and configuration related questions for version 2.5.2 which is the latest official release from quite a while back now.
?
I have tried several of the Linux logging programs and CQRLOG fits me.? It is more than some folks want or need though and perhaps Qlog is a decent alternative.? QLOG does apprear to be under active development and has some nice features.? Unfortunately, there are not a lot of Linux logging programs out there and fewer that appear to be in active development.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHaving had CQRLOG running as my log of choice for a long time and on many distros -including Ubuntoids, I can't help wondering if something has been overlooked? CQRLOG, at least here, seems not robust with MySQL, but the CQRLOG website does point out that one should install MariaDB -a drop-in replacement for MySQL first, and the install CQRLOG. IMHO, CQRLOG is so much better than QLOG, but there are alternatives ... 73, KX4QC On 1/17/25 22:14, Bill, K4AJ via

Re: What are the settings to get Fldigi to control my FTDX10?
Regarding the sound coming from the headphones, this indicates that probably the wrong sound device is selected in sound settings.
?
Regarding the CAT control, I believe? that FT-DX10 use similar commands as FT-710 does.
Why don't you try the FT-710 xml file?

I worked on getting this radio working yesterday. I got hamlib to at least partially work. I see a waterfall and can control the radio but the response is sluggish. I'm still working on it. I use hamlib with other apps and it works well. Did you get yours to work?

Hello Bill
?
There is also QLOG
There are PPA repositories in order to install and get future updates.
It look like it is an active project.
?
I tried running it on a Linux Mint 22 machine. This is based on Ubuntu 24.04, so it may be suitable for you.
?
Unfortunately, my Linux PC is not my main machine for amateur radio use, so maybe there are issues that I have not faced during the simple testing I have done.
I have not used QLOG for everyday use, so my experience was just: install it, run it and import the log.
