Full power on other modes, basically anything that uses the mic.?

I think Dave was on to something about not getting RF on CW but I changed the KEYER setting to ON on the M-LIST and then got full 100W output using the mic PTT as a keyer.

Re: Fldigi Freezing

Ron,

You should be able to select "Pulse audio" check box on the configuration tab for audio devices.? Pipewire will be used.? The "nice" factor determines how much CPU a specific executing program uses:

1. open the bandwidth?on the transceiver.? Narrow BW is good for your ears, not necessarily good for machine decode.
2. lower the digital squelch (right most control next to waterfall).

Re: Where to send user modified/tested/debugged sources?

Git may be OK for experienced users, but is very dangerous for those of us who have not grown up with it and/or do not use it extensively every waking hour.

I for one managed to wipe out someone else¡¯s project by accidentally pushing something to the wrong place, because there was no guidance as to what where and how, or how to prevent such errors.? (Poor instructions + "finger trouble" on my part = disaster!)

And you don't get a "Are you sure" check, or any warning you're about to overwrite other stuff.

Thankfully, the main author had hourly backups "kept out of sight" for that very reason.? I was not the first it seems to cause that to happen!

I do have my own git/github/gitlab instances.? But I have never understood it/them, even after many hours of reading and experimentation with it.?? I've not come across any beginners tutorial either that makes sense.?? (I've also not found a reliable way to remove such instances from the cloud.)

Juila Evans's (@BORK) "comics" are better, but it's still confusing and difficult to follow.

Each version seems to do things differently each time (even locally hosted) often seemingly not updating a group of files, but saying it has, and storing the new/updated stuff somewhere else on the tree, without warning.? That, and not reporting where it put it!

OK lots of people use it (them.)? But I for one do not understand the way it works, I don't "think" that way.? (I'm obviously running an 8 bit grey cell OS here!)

Sad to say, but it needs a cross platform "front end" that is consistent and full of procedural error traps for us meer mortals who only wish to use it "part time" on an add-hoc basis.? But that would open yet another can of wriggly things too.

Yes, I can download a project, follow the build instructions and get success that way (GQRX, WSJTX, QSSTV, Hamlib and so on) but don't ask or expect me to push any changes back up the greasy pole, should I find a need and alter anything.

Believe me, I do wish I could understand how that all works.

?
thanks a lot.? Your detailed approach is a try I will apply to, as soon as I can plan (I think a full day of work :-)).?? Crostini is the "internal" linux embedded in ChromeOS, installing it is just a couple of click and does not impact on the standard OS.?? Unfortunately it is not a full linux machine and cannot be used with HAM software...
?
The idea to have a full linux, keyboarded, tablet is great, will take the risk of bricking the unit.?? Also if Lenovo duet is a cheap unit, probably a light linux install will give it a second life

Re: Linux Mint works on one user account but crashes on another on Linux Mint 22.1

Fixed it!? When I setup WFVIEW,? it specified using QT audio (default) and the default settings in their manual . Sine Fldigi does Port Audio, I set WFVIEW to Pot Audio and played with the settings until I heard good audio in the monitor on Fldigi.?? Since I have? a USB headset, I set it to be the monitor? and all is good ?

On Fldigi my settings are:

Port Audio
Capture - Loopback PCM 10,1
Playback- PCM 11,1

WFVIEW settings:

Sample rate: 16000
Full Duplex
Port Audio
Audio Output- Loopback: PCM (hw:10,0)
Audio Input- Loopback:PCM (hw:11,0)

Just another Linux oddity .....

I have auto set for a baud rate and 10,1 and 11,1 for the port audio. I am trying to listen to audio via Fldigi so I have the box checked and default in it. On the View tab in the main window, RX audio is checked. There's audio with a motorboating sound in it.

Maybe I have to install it for each account? Haven't tried that. Maybe? Pipewire is doing something.? As far as Pipewire goes, Fldigi shows up as an Alsa device when I? look at applications in Sound.? Might be a feedback loop or I miss applied something.

When? I? set up the second Fldigi and WFVIEW,? both of the configurations started from scratch.? There was no carryover from the first user account.

Hi John

Just some thinking out loud. I can't speak for wfview.

My first thought was that if the .fldigi profile/directory was simply copied, then there are some hard references in the config files that will point to the other user's structure. eg fldigi.prefs has a reference to the macro file and fldigi_def.xml has various file locations that may need editing. If copied as root the r/w permissions also may need to be updated.

You did however say "created the profile twice", (which profile?) so are there any group memberships setup for the first account that are not in the 2nd? The one that comes to mind is the dialout group, but depending on your environment may also include "audio".

I am assuming that you are not running the user programs concurrently, nor have any user specific program or library installs.
