¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAdrian, that's the interesting thing is I'm not sure why multiple Fldigi instances are running. 1. open the bandwidth?on the transceiver.? Narrow BW is good for your ears, not necessarily good for machine decode. 2. lower the digital squelch (right most control next to waterfall). David On Sat, Feb 15, 2025 at 9:58?AM Tim Huffaker, KM4ESU via <thuffaker=[email protected]> wrote:

Pulseaudio or Pipewire ?? ?What is the "nice" factor for each of the instances?? Only one instance should be transceiver control (or use flrig, it can support multiple clients).? If two of the instances are being used for monitor only, try increasing the niceness of those two instances. Dave,

This weekend, I did not see any RTTY, so I thought I would try CW decode. ?I see the same issue of FLDigi not decoding. ?You can decode by just looking at the CW coming through. ?I am not sure, but I do have plenty of signals coming in, so what would stop a decode?

Re: Fldigi Freezing
Hi All,
?
I'm still fighting the problem with Fldigi freezing on me with Linux Mint 22.1 and Fldigi 4.2.04.24.
Today on the 80 meter NBEMS nets at about 2 hours worth of net activity on a few different nets I looked up and Fldigi was frozen.
I have to kill Fldigi. When I look at HTOP this is what I see.
?
?
It just looks like Fldigi is taking up so much resource and eventually freezes up. Everything else on the computer is working.
?
I don't see any other problems like this being reported so it may be something on my local machine.
Maybe after a certain about of activity I need to reboot the computer.

just in order to be sure to understand: when you say "Chromebook running Debian" you mean a Chromebook where ChromeOS was wiped out and Debian installed as a single boot OS? Are there any way to install Debian (or another distro) without cleaning the machine before?
?
and, following question, anyone installed a distro on a Chromebook Lenovo CT X636F (AKA Lenovo Duet)?

Re: Next version FLdigi
Good day David.
?
I've already tried to set it up several times before the test . But it doesn't work quickly, you have to abandon the setup and work in a bundle of "H1MM+ FLdigi". What should be specified in the "Text capture order" field? Is the "Exch In" checkbox needed?

MacOS 15.3.1 USB and flrig
I recently tried to run flrig 2.0.05 and it tells me the COM port is not responding. I then go into config and select /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART4. After Pressing init it hangs and a forced quit is needed. I think it all started after upgrading to macOS 15.3.1.
?
Was the serial driver replaced? I think something was changed in the USB drivers because upon boot my computer does not recognize my keyboard if it is connected to my USB hub. I need to connect direct to USB to be recognized. If the system is already running, using the hub/keyboard combo is not a problem.
?
If I use a Windows 10 VM, I have no issues.
?
Any ideas?

Re: Running Linux on a Chromebook
If you can open and run FLDIGI, but you can't select sound cards or transmit, you may need to add your username to the dialout group.?
?
Open a terminal and type:
?
sudo adduser fkatalenas dialout
?
Reboot or log out and log back in, and then you should be able to use FLDIGI. I just helped some guys get their Chromebooks running Debian to work with fldigi and js8call this way.?

Re: Where to send user modified/tested/debugged sources?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGit may be OK for experienced users, but is very dangerous for
those of us who have not grown up with it and/or do not use it
extensively every waking hour. I for one managed to wipe out someone else¡¯s project by accidentally pushing something to the wrong place, because there was no guidance as to what where and how, or how to prevent such errors.? (Poor instructions + "finger trouble" on my part = disaster!) And you don't get a "Are you sure" check, or any warning you're
about to overwrite other stuff. Thankfully, the main author had hourly backups "kept out of sight" for that very reason.? I was not the first it seems to cause that to happen! I do have my own git/github/gitlab instances.? But I have never
understood it/them, even after many hours of reading and
experimentation with it.?? I've not come across any beginners
tutorial either that makes sense.?? (I've also not found a
reliable way to remove such instances from the cloud.) Juila Evans's (@BORK) "comics" are better, but it's still
confusing and difficult to follow. Each version seems to do things differently each time (even locally hosted) often seemingly not updating a group of files, but saying it has, and storing the new/updated stuff somewhere else on the tree, without warning.? That, and not reporting where it put it! OK lots of people use it (them.)? But I for one do not understand
the way it works, I don't "think" that way.? (I'm obviously
running an 8 bit grey cell OS here!) Sad to say, but it needs a cross platform "front end" that is consistent and full of procedural error traps for us meer mortals who only wish to use it "part time" on an add-hoc basis.? But that would open yet another can of wriggly things too. Yes, I can download a project, follow the build instructions and get success that way (GQRX, WSJTX, QSSTV, Hamlib and so on) but don't ask or expect me to push any changes back up the greasy pole, should I find a need and alter anything. Believe me, I do wish I could understand how that all works. 73. Dave 'WBX. PS:? Temporary web server for local network use? Take a look at:-? and:? (linked from the above)?
Many choices of "one liners".?? I've used the basic Python type
many times for quick and easy transfer between machines on the
same LAN, or testing some arbitrary code via localhost on the same
machine. >><<

Re: Running Linux on a Chromebook
Jindra,
?
thanks a lot.? Your detailed approach is a try I will apply to, as soon as I can plan (I think a full day of work :-)).?? Crostini is the "internal" linux embedded in ChromeOS, installing it is just a couple of click and does not impact on the standard OS.?? Unfortunately it is not a full linux machine and cannot be used with HAM software...
?
The idea to have a full linux, keyboarded, tablet is great, will take the risk of bricking the unit.?? Also if Lenovo duet is a cheap unit, probably a light linux install will give it a second life
