Re: software for SSTV??

What distro? Was the distro upgraded? Was QSSTV built against the libs in your current distro or it an old version from the last distro revision that is having trouble with the new libs? Is this some LTS distro that is way behind? Where did you get QSSTV from?

Re: software for SSTV??

QSSTV is now running.? It sometimes receives partial images.? It stops part way through the transmission and stops running.? Other times it does not recognize a strong signal.

Will not key radio/transmit.? I used the same CAT settings as for WSJT-X and I get a green "start CAT" button.

I never have problems with WSJTX.

Hello Phil,

Are you running Qsstv on Debian 12 on X86?? ARM?? Please offer some more details.? Does this crash happen instantly upon start up or are you doing a specific workflow? Anyway, a few ideas:

amd64.

?? - try deleting your ~/qsstv directory and configs and try again

Did that as part of reinstalling qsstv.

?? - try running qsstv as root to see if the behavior is any different

Very much a last resort. Nothing should be run as root unless it absolutely needs to.

?? - try starting qsstv from the command prompt and once it crashes, send us any reported errors from the command line

I ran it from command line anyway. What other way is there?

?? - try running qsstv under the strace command and send us the last page or so of listed strace output

SSTV is lots of fun with Linux.

FWIW, I use and like QSSTV -easy setup, easy control, and saving of images. Digital SSTV also included if you want it, and many optional features that don't get in the way of a very easy GUI.

Runs here on Arch, Mint, LMDE, MX, SuSE without problems with IC-7610.

Sends and receives regular still images from your camera or artistic skills, all protocols in common use. I

Includes graphic tools to make templates for your Callsign, PIP, etc., but no ready-made ones included, just good instructions for how to do. Again, not difficult.

Any downside? Despite being easy and very functional, it looks like QSSTV hasn't been updated recently -if that matters.

Hi Keith

The way out of the errant Thor idle is probably to change the modem to "NULL" just after the PUSH command and use POP to bring it back. eg

<PUSH>
<TXRSID:t>
<!MODEM:NULL>
<GOFREQ:1477>
<TUNE:1.5>
<RX>
<@TXRSID:t>
<@POP>

Also suggest you try a round number of TUNE seconds just in case.

See the W1AW and ARRL mode change broadcast example in the manual for reference.

I found Dave's doc. It appears to be an email rather than PDF. It is 4-5 years old so may have changed.

Cheers Bob

Hi Philip

I had that with Debian 12. I don't remember exactly how I worked through solving it, but my current build needs build/Makefile modified by adding -fpermissive to CXXFLAGS. (ie between the qmake and make step)

I also had to disable some of the hamlib polling code as the waterfall jumped and smeared. Pretty sure that was a QT5 and kernel incompatibility though, to do with reinserting an old NVIDIA video driver. I also run flrig which for QSSTV needs the hamlib connection in front of that.

I often put out HamDRM/DSSTV calls on 14233 but no replies. I don't really use the analogue SSTV modes (14230). Also had A16 RS1 working on a 1000km 40m path which kind of defies logic! (A is usually a VHF/UHF mode)

Hi Phil

I am half remembering... Might have been a config file issue for me, that starting with a new config fixed. ie rename ./.config/ON4QZ/qsstv_9.0.conf to something else and relaunch QSSTV.

I externally modify qsstv_9.0.conf as my QTH is continually changing, so may have messed it up.

May have also been something in the image cache subdirectories. I probably backed up and deleted the cache contents. Worst case I suggest starting with an empty structure then copy the old image files (only) back in.

Sorry kind of vague, but it works for me now.

The fault means "when two distinct pieces of data in a hash table share the same hash value" which for me was probably two locations had duplicate data.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi Keith

I'd expect the last two commands need to be prefixed @ so they run post TX>RX.

TXRSID toggle I think will be TXRSID:t

You can restrict the PUSH to just the freq if you like. It (and other commands) may even need an inline (!) prefix. As I remember there is a default re-sequencing that can be applied.?

Not all commands will accept the delayed or inline prefix. The manual is quite detailed in this. Dave also produced a fairly detailed document (some time ago) that covers the sequencing aspect.

so;

<PUSH:f>
<TXRSID:t>
<GOFREQ:1477>
<TUNE:1.5>
<RX>
<@TXRSID:t>
<@POP>

I don't promise this will work! Not sure if TUNE accepts a subsecond argument either. If not, a workaround is to TX a 1.5 sec 1477Hz WAV file using <AUDIO:filename.wav>

Cheers Bob VK2YQA

?
I use QSSTV in Ubuntu which does have a 'Transmit Tone' feature (little music note in the transmit panel).? However, the transmit time variable appears to be type integer, so it's 1 second or 2 seconds....not 1.5 seconds.
?
So, I thought I'd try to get FLDIGI (4.2.06) to generate that tone (and give me an opportunity to explore some of the seldom-used macro commands).? Here's what I came up with:
?
<PUSH>
<TXRSID:on|off|t>
<GOFREQ:1477>
<TUNE:1.5>
<RX>
<TXRSID:on|off|t>
<POP>
?
In theory, FLDIGI should transmit just a 1477 Hz tone for 1.5 seconds, then return to whatever cursor audio frequency and TXRSID state it was in prior to executing the macro.
?
It sort-of works.? Audio frequency doesn't change but the rig goes to transmit for about the right time.? Starting with TXRSID selected, it doesn't seem to toggle and it transmits a TXRSID before returning to receive. So,? ?TXRSID:on|off|t? ?and? ?GOFREQ? ?don't seem to work as I'd have expected.
?
I suspect I'm not using these macro commands correctly....I'd welcome anyone more familiar with these that cares to comment/suggest.
