Hi Mike,
Have you had a chance to look at: /g/KM4ACK-Pi
|
Does anyone have experience with 73Linux? I tried to install from GitHub.com/km4ack per instructions. Seem to run the script. Never came back to a menu for me to fill in my information. I would like to run this on a wo-we mini computer with 64gb and a 1TB mnvme.2 storage. I want to run FT8, JS8 call and winlink server on a IC7300. Any ideas or info appreciated.

Re: How to use emulator with 19.3 Cinnamon 32bit
For me, I am using Bookworm, but I compile most ham software from source. I don't rely on the packages that come with the OS. Basically because of the lead (or is it lag?) time from releasing the software to getting it packaged.
All the software I use comes with adequate instructions as to how to compile them. It's usually just a couple of scripts you have to run: either based around configure or cmake.

I have had no issues with Trixie here. apart from occasional minor stuff that were quickly updated.
If you want latest wsjtx_improved and more in ham radio , which is worth the trouble, then I recommend Trixie,
If you are looking for a ham radio dedicated setup, again Trixie, I posted the link to show supported ham software.
It also works great with wine/bottles/crossover for windows ham software.
It is easy to reinstall $free if you mess anything up, and as a ham some experimentation and discovery
is 2nd nature, & learn as you go.

Very new to this when I type sudo apt-cache search wsjtx it displays only the third line you posted. From here how do I download it? Sorry if this is something simple I am overlooking.

Re: How to use emulator with 19.3 Cinnamon 32bit
You can install those with apt. Change the apt sources.list up to
trixie?
deb trixie main non-free-firmware
deb-src trixie main
non-free-firmware
deb trixie-security
main non-free-firmware
deb-src trixie-security
main non-free-firmware
# trixie-updates, to get updates before a point release is made;
# see
deb trixie-updates main
non-free-firmware
deb-src trixie-updates main
non-free-firmware
then with a
sudo apt
update ; sudo apt dist-upgrade
to get more recent releases of everything you say you want.

Thanks, how do I go about getting 73Linux on
there, as 73Linux is 64bit?

Thank you, I just recently got started with using linux for ham, and it has gotten pretty addicting!?

I don't know that this is a case for an emulator, per se. Normally Linux binary packages are compiled for the CPU type desired and one chooses a distribution that supports the CPU of the computer that?it is to be installed on. I'm not familiar with 73 Linux?but I know that some distributions still support 32 bit AMD/Intel CPUs. I think he should check that the distribution that he wants to use supports 32 bit CPUs and if not he should pick one that does. This article is a couple of years old, but it lists distributions?that still support 32 bit CPUs?.? I've been a Debian Linux user for about 30 years now and I know they still?support i386 (32 bit) CPUs, and Debian being the base distribution for many other distributions probably means that there are a fair amount that still support 32 bit CPUs.
I glanced at the 73 Linux description and its primarily a Raspberry Pi distribution that also supports x86_64 (64 bit) Debian-based distributions. I would bet a fair amount of money that almost all if not all of the ham related applications that he would use would be available in a Debian i386 distro. I've been using Debian since 2017 for all my ham stuff when I became a ham and all of the usual ham related applications are packaged for Debian.
