Re: software for SSTV??
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Phil
I am half remembering... Might have been a config file issue for me, that starting with a new config fixed. ie rename ./.config/ON4QZ/qsstv_9.0.conf to something else and relaunch QSSTV.
I externally modify qsstv_9.0.conf as my QTH is continually
changing, so may have messed it up.
May have also been something in the image cache subdirectories. I
probably backed up and deleted the cache contents. Worst case I
suggest starting with an empty structure then copy the old image
files (only) back in.
Sorry kind of vague, but it works for me now.
The fault means "when two distinct pieces of data in a hash table share the same hash value" which for me was probably two locations had duplicate data.
Cheers Bob

Re: software for SSTV??
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Phil, Are you running Qsstv on Debian 12 on X86?? ARM?? Please offer some more details.? Does this crash happen instantly upon start up or are you doing a specific workflow? Anyway, a few ideas: ?? - try deleting your ~/qsstv directory and configs and try again ?? - try running qsstv as root to see if the behavior is any different ?? - try starting qsstv from the command prompt and once it crashes, send us any reported errors from the command line ?? - try running qsstv under the strace command and send us the last page or so of listed strace output --David On 01/22/2025 08:50 AM, Philip Rose,

Re: software for SSTV??
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Philip
I had that with Debian 12. I don't remember exactly how I worked through solving it, but my current build needs build/Makefile modified by adding -fpermissive to CXXFLAGS. (ie between the qmake and make step)
I also had to disable some of the hamlib polling code as the waterfall jumped and smeared. Pretty sure that was a QT5 and kernel incompatibility though, to do with reinserting an old NVIDIA video driver. I also run flrig which for QSSTV needs the hamlib connection in front of that.
I often put out HamDRM/DSSTV calls on 14233 but no replies. I
don't really use the analogue SSTV modes (14230). Also had A16 RS1
working on a 1000km 40m path which kind of defies logic! (A is
usually a VHF/UHF mode)

I have installed qsstv on Debian 12 and it used to work fine, but now it crashes with "Hash Collision". I'm currently in the process of upgrading the OS to see if it might have a temporary glitch in versions.

SSTV is lots of fun with Linux. FWIW, I use and like QSSTV -easy setup, easy control, and saving of images. Digital SSTV also included if you want it, and many optional features that don't get in the way of a very easy GUI. Runs here on Arch, Mint, LMDE, MX, SuSE without problems with IC-7610. Sends and receives regular still images from your camera or artistic skills, all protocols in common use. I Includes graphic tools to make templates for your Callsign, PIP, etc., but no ready-made ones included, just good instructions for how to do. Again, not difficult. Any downside? Despite being easy and very functional, it looks like QSSTV hasn't been updated recently -if that matters. 73, John :)

Re: software for SSTV??
I compared both, QSSTV (a linux-app) and MM-SSTV in a wine bottle. on the receiving end there are not that big differences, or let me say: the one is as good as the other. what speakes for QSSTV is: *) plain linux-app *) some more modes, that mmsstv does not support *) digital-sstv (aka easy-pal) is included in the software. only downside: when you have created templates for overlays in mmsstv you can not use them in QSSTV hope to see you on the bands peter OE6PLD -- Disclaimer: May be opened and read by the NSA, CIA, GCHQ, KGB, BND, and whoever else it may NOT concern. |
CQRlog: Uninstalled MYsql and installed MariaDB.? CQRlog still opens with error concerning connection to MYsql!? I'm giving up on CQRlog.
Qlog shows some promise, but I can't get it to connect to my rig.? I setup a rig profile with parameters that work with other software (e.g.WSJT-X), but no luck.
Might just keep my log on a spreadsheet then figure out how to transfer data to TQSL.? Any ideas? |

Re: FLdigi graphical face lift
Not a bad idea to modernize the UI (but not ruin it), Dave might have some suggestions, but someone with the coding skills will likely need to do the work :-)

Re: FLdigi graphical face lift
That really depends on what you define as "dark mode".? Alternate color renderings for the user interface seems to be highly dependent on the operating system and the user selected desktop experience. fldigi etal are designed to execute natively on: Windows XP -> 11, all versions of Linux, several versions of Unix, all versions of MacOS.? The UI for all of the applications use the Fast Light Tool Kit, . It is possible to change nearly all of the colors (but not with a single button click) for each.? For example One possible "dark mode" scheme that you can set up and save in flrig. Each individual application has to be coded to allow this degree of color rendering.? The current alpha code for flrig is complete.? So too is fldigi: C++ developers are welcome to work on the other applications to create similar configurable UI color schemes. 73, David W1HKJ On Tue, Jan 21, 2025 at 7:42?AM Greg Cheng - KC3SMW via <kc3smw=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: FLdigi graphical face lift
At my age, I find most dark modes either hilariously garish / painful or so subdued I cannot tell where one title bar ends and the other begins - they're all the same color of "dark." All of the FT-mode software falls under that umbrella. The only "dark" mode I have found remotely useful is Breeze Twilight on my Mint box using KDE.
While not "infinitely configurable," you can come up with a "dark" mode in Fldigi:
