KiCad 2011-01-22 BZR 2754 is not working on Windows 7 64bit
Hello,
I've installed KiCad 2011-01-22 BZR 2754 on my new PC with windows7 64bit. Everything seems to be fine but when I click on the "schematic button" it claims " Command <eeschema.exe> could not found. While I can find it in the program folder. Which is: c:\Program Files (x86)\KiCad\ Regards, Boudewijn Charité |

Point taken. I have started on the switch design.. Yes.. It's simple and moreover fun... Thanks guys!! Ravi On 2 February 2011 00:07, Andy Eskelson <andyyahoo@...> wrote:

Re: 2 pole - 6 way

I'll echo what Anders said...
When you design PCB's YOU decide what to use. YOU have to ensure that the footprint you use matches the physical switch. This means that YOU have to get the spec of the device you intend to use, and look at the physical layout and so on. If you can find a module that matches, then feel smug :-) If not start drawing. Seriously, as you design more and more boards, you will find that you build up a personal library of parts and footprints that you know work with a particular component type. For things like switches it only takes a few mins to draw them up anyway so you might as well do that. The 3D files are another matter, personally I don't usually bother with them. Andy. Re: 2 pole - 6 way
There are literally thousands of such switches... I suggest you roll your own, unless you can find a suitable footprint.

And thanks for another answer from you. I looked at what you said but the 3D settings were right already . I kept looking for answers and found that although I had made my own library folder and Mod folder the program was still reading the original folders . I have now cured that and now have a nicely populated board in 3D Thank you Don --- In kicad-users@..., Andy Eskelson <andyyahoo@...> wrote:

busses and hierarchical sheets.
Hello.
Who has an idea for an elegant way using busses and hierarchical sheets? Is there a way, to mark a bus with a label or so, to get it outside the sheed without marking every single wire with a global label or leading every single wire to a hierarchical pin? Re: [ANN] PCB Multiplyer (early test version)
This is very impressive could you add the link to kicad links on the main page I beleive it is a wiki.

I would like to try this with my boards I first would want to get 3 test ones from dorkbotpdx. also I would need to get 16 or at least 8 sensor pad circuit boards. there round ish because there EMG active non-contact electrodes. So you can see how if your program put a bounding box around the pcb everything would seem rectangular. But still amazing work I would like to have my boards cranked out by the sheet and pick and place assembled with a hotair oven or something some day. Here is a link to my open source hardware design I like how your sharing your design I am sharing mine. The updated shcematics and boards are under downloads NCP_Base8.zip --- In kicad-users@..., "mgebha" <markus@...> wrote:

Re: 3D view not showing up

Open the module in the module editor (from PCBnew) and check that the 3D
settings are correct, (module properties) they should point to the .wrl file. The 3d shapes for the standard parts live in /usr/local/kicad/share/modules.packages3d/ or in the same place under the kicad directory in windows. Look at an existing module if you need a clue or two :-) However as before aways put extra files into your own lib and mod directories to avoid the overwrite when a new version of kicad comes along. My circuit uses a dip switch
I downloaded the Lib , Mod and 3d files for it I put the files in what I thought were the logical places I keep a set seperate set of directories for my lib . mods etc so when I update Kicad I dont lose them The lib files for the dip switches I put in Mylibrary the mod files in MyModules and the 3D files into the 3d folder in Mymodules The schematic works fine , the cvpcb lets me assign a footprint as it should . Its only when I come to look at the 3d view of the board I find that the switch isnt there. only the pads where it would be inserted . I have set prefs in newPCB to include the path to the lib mod and 3d files . What else have I missed to make it appear ? Don |
Re: Resistor network?
Hello acidblue
Are there any shem symbols for a resistor network in kicad?Of course, you will find the resistor array symbols in the ACTUAL Version of the library "SymbolsSimilarEN60617+oldDIN617-RevE3.lib". It is at the attachmend, but you should find this file also at the file repository of this user group. The library SymbolsSimilarEN60617+oldDIN617 wich is in the actual KiCAD, is about one and a half year old, so much has changed. Be carefull, if you have an old design with an old library, an choose now a new version of this library. If only the nuber of revision is changed, i worked on errors and added new symbols, but if the letter is changed, much moore is changed, like origin points, dimensions and names. But i did not create a module library for resistor arrays yet. There also different types of resistor arrays. Most common are a single in line row, and all resistors are conected at one side. This connection is usually at one end of the row. But there are also arrays of separated resistors in a row. for SMD, the variations seems to be even greater..... Specifically I'm look for 6 pin and 10 pin bus sip symbols.I named them RESISTOR_4XARRAY_BUSSED_SIL......... and RESISTOR_6XARRAY_BUSSED_SIL......... Please tell me, if it is what you want, and please tell me, if you found some errors. I just created some boards and noticed, that i made a huge mistake with 5x20mm fuse Sockets from my own. :-( Now i have boards with a fuse socket footprint, which is 5mm too long, and i even fought hard, to get this fitting to the board.....shit happens. So here is a major update to the PCB Multiplyer software:
Screenshot: Changes include: - Enormous speedup - Bugfix: pads were not rotated in 1.1. This was only a problem with non-uniform pad shapes. - Assigned keyboard shortcuts to most controls - you can now specify the file to be loaded as command line argument - Lots of minor improvements Also the download package now contains the source code under CPL. Re: MDC File
Andy Eskelson
It's a file that is created when the library is edited and saved.
Rub PCBnew, open the module editor, select the required lib, then open any module within that lib then save. What I suspect is going on, is that you are using the DIP switches in isolation rather than saving them into your own existing library, if you did that then the file would have automatically been created. MDC File
DON
Hi
I am quite new to Kicad so this is probably something I am doing wrong but, I downloaded the set of Dip Switches which Damian Mrugala has been kind enough to supply. It had the Lib file , the Mod file and even the 3D files ,but Kicad keeps telling me it cant find the MDC file for it. Does anyone have the MDC file for these dip switches or do we have to write it ourselves ( and if so how) , or is there somewhere I can download it from. Many Thanks Don |

PcbNew focuses on component selected on EeSchema
Jim Hughen
开云体育With PcbNew in a window showing under an EeSchema
window, I noticed the PcbNew window would pan and put the cursor on a component
that was clicked on in the Eeschema window.? The Eeschema window has
focus.
?
I am very suprised to see this.? Is supposed
to work like that?

Multiple wire colors in EEschema?
Jos
Is it possible to give the wires a different color?
I am drawing a schematic with different power and ground wires. Also there are two AC nets on the board, I used the Bus wire (blue) for these. It is a complicated PCB for speed regulating a 180V DC motor. Jos PA0AMX |
