If I export a VRML file then for reasons I can't figure out the library parts supplied with kicad do not appear in the 3D image, but those I've created myself do appear. The module .wrls are present and correct, and the pathnames to the missing components are in the exported VRML file.
Note the lonely resonator and LED in blender_screenshot.jpg (which I've uploaded).
Any ideas anyone?

I've now set my language preference to "Default", which in my case results in kicad using English (US English to judge by the fact that it says "Meter" in the VRML export box, which is an indicating device in British English, not a measurement unit).
Co-ordinates are displayed in PCBNew with a decimal point, which is what I would expect. The user grid entry works as I would expect too, accepting a decimal point. If I enter a comma it just ignores everything including and after the comma; no spurious behaviour follows.
Local: British English

I realized that the previously mentioned behaviour may be hard to confirm, because the first time I opened the module editor, it used the format with decimal point (2.45) everywhere. The next time it used decimal comma (2,45) everywhere. I haven't even closed down PCBNew in between.

And the reason why the module editor goes insane seems to be that anything with a comma is replaced by 0, and a grid with x=0 y=1 will mess up the zoom.

Thanks for the warning, but I'm not tinkering with the system locale. I did once use a mixed (ie screwed up) German-English machine, and that certainly clashed gears occasionally (though mostly it just presented dialogs randomly in either German or English).

Hi,
how can I print to a network printer?
In the
File-Print --> Print-Print --> Print-Print Setup... --> Print Setup
menu I only can choose for "Default Printer", no other printers are available (as in some other programs).
I'm using Linux Kubuntu 10.10 and kicad-2011-01-25-BZR2754_RC4a-UBUNTU_10.10_full_with_components_doc.tgz

No, I think the fault is in kicad (or possibly the Windows installer for kicad). So if your PC is set to English kicad displays in Dutch, and if your PC is set to Dutch kicad displays in English. Apart from kicad I'm not having any locale problems. My last kicad install correctly fired up in English.

Don't spend to much time trying to solve it as you might break it anyway. Just
do a backup and clean it up.

And since you're Dutch that would suggest the English and Dutch locales are swapped in some way. Jos is also Dutch and reported his copy started up in Dutch, but he also stated he operates his PC in English so that is consistent with the locales being swapped. Do you operate your PC in Dutch, Boudewijn?
