Hello Everybody,

This is a reminder that K-BAR-A will hold a VE testing session this Saturday, September 16th at 1:00 PM in the same conference room where our meetings are held. The conference room is behind the WAFED bank. The address is 5215 S 6th St, Klamath Falls, OR 97603.

If you need to get a license or upgrade your current one this is your chance. Also if you are a VE and hold an Extra class license this is your chance to get your name on the green sheet!

Going forward we plan on holding testing sessions quarterly starting with this one.

GMRS Hogback Repeater

Hello All!
An update to the GMRS Repeater on Hogback 462.600
I am pleased to announce that I and Oregon GMRS in Grants Pass/Medford are linked together 24/7 to form a Southern Oregon GMRS System
With their 3 repeaters and my 3 repeaters we cover 4 counties now.
Expansion will grow in Josephine County in the next few months with a repeater?in Phoenix, covering the south end of Josephine county reaching into the West end of Klamath county rural area.
Still looking for a location in the East end of Klamath county to get some coverage into Lakeview and?a location in Douglas county to cover the Roseburg area.
Wish to Thank the KBARA members for the support of GMRS in Klamath County. Without this support my dream of having a system in Klamath county would have never happened!

To check out information on the linked repeaters visit OregonGMRS.org
There is a AMRRON net every Sunday at 1900 hours,?
Mondays the??Southern Oregon Preparedness Net at 2000 hours
Tuesday "Not A Net" With WRKU327 Wes?at?1900 hours

I was on the air listening but didn't hear anyone. Not sure if my antenna is wonky or if no one was on? I can hit the repeater fine but haven't tried simplex yet.

Count me in, I'm looking forward to helping out.

Collection of Vintage QST Magazines

We had a local gentleman reach out via our club website offering a bunch of vintage QST magazines. Here is the message he sent.

Message: I live in Klamath Falls and have a large number of vintage QST magazines from the 1930s to the 1950s that I would like to give to anyone who would like them. I can deliver them if you would like or you can pick them up at my place.

Please let me know if you're interested. I was thinking maybe we could arrange to have them dropped off at the monthly in-person club meeting.

Thanks,
Charlie / K7AKT

ARRL Volunteers on the Air event

From Scott Rosenfeld N7JI-

Hello Erik and KBARA members!

Please distribute this to ANYONE in your club and all of Oregon you feel would be interested in participating.

If...
  • you are in Oregon,
  • you're an ARRL member,
  • you can operate responsibly,
  • you can use a computer logging program that can generate an adi file,
You can operate as W1AW/7 as part of the 2023 Volunteers on the Air event.

If you've never been "the hunted," it's pretty cool to have people trying to work you.
If you have been "the hunted," you know how much fun it can be.

We are doing our signup and band-mode scheduling via a web site called?.

To sign up, please go to the web site and sign up for an account.
If you already have an account, you should use that account.

Then...

Go to the?W1AW/7 OR Second week?event and?REQUEST TO OPERATE.

I'll then review your info, and if approved, you can select time slots.

EASY PEASY and lots of fun,

Questions? Please email Scott?

In a way, it's similar ¨C one communicates with net control using your own gear at your station and enjoy the great outdoors.? The differences I experienced from last year's event:
1) More civilized hours ¨C later start time

3) More team work at station ¨C multiple comm specialists assigned to allow for at least one to scribe and another to report to NCS
4) More fun at aids station ¨C volunteers at station were fun people: they dressed up in costume (fruit was the theme), and danced to music
