CROSS BAND HEADDER
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý? ? ***???????????? ANNUAL ARMED FORCES DAY CROSSBAND TEST (10 May 2025) - The Department of Defense will host this years Armed Forces Day (AFD) Crossband Test, scheduled for May 10, 2025. This annual event is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and will not impact any public or private communications. For more than 50 years, military and amateur stations have taken part in this event, which is an interoperability exercise between hobbyist and government radio stations. - The AFD Crossband Test is a unique opportunity to test two-way communications between military communicators and radio stations in the Amateur Radio Service (ARS), as authorized in 47 CFR 97.111. - Military stations will transmit on selected military frequencies and will announce the specific ARS frequencies monitored. All times are ZULU (Z), and all frequencies are Upper Side Band (USB) unless otherwise noted. - Military Station listing/frequencies will be provided in upcoming weeks. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For additional information & QSL card input , go to https://www.usarmymars.org/events\ |

Re: Latest testing session
KK7ZSK and KK7ZLO (right and center)were at our meeting last night, as well as another friend they are recruiting. ZLO already has his quenshang firmware modified, transmitting his call via cw and is very tech savvy. They are 11 and 12. They would like to form an Ashland EC for kids. I have offered to take them for a portable operation to get on 10m. These boys are self motivated, I think inspired partly from an uncle in McMinnville.?

N6KV request
Hello everyone,
I just received this message from N6KV; she's currently in room 229 at Sky Lakes Medical Center- "911 I need a 6' extension cord and a 5v power adapter to charge my iPad and phone." I am taking care of her cats and have already delivered her mail, a power bank, her iPad, one of my lightning cables, her medications, and her keys to the hospital; is anyone available that can take care of this latest request? Hope everyone has a wonderful week! I'll probably not be back home in time for the net tonight; please check me in as a guest for the ARES net. 73, Erik KD6RRR |

Latest testing session
Hello Everyone, We do ham radio testing quarterly?here in KlamTucky. Occasionally, a testing session really stands out. Like the time a YL drove over from Medford and took the test and went from Zero to Extra in one session. Well, I have another one. This past Saturday, an eleven-year-old boy came over from Ashland and took his Tech test and passed it. Way COOL! His License was issued today, KK7ZSK. 73, Jim? WO7V |

Re: Krisy / N6KV needs assistance
Krisy, I am unable to help due to my own back problems and significant nerve impairment that limits my ability to lift. Many of our members, like you and me are seniors and would have trouble providing the in-home help that you need. You need professional in-home care. There are a variety of entities that should be able to help. You should contact Klamath County as they have services for individuals who require care: Probably the best place to start is:
Additionally, your insurance should have a number on the back of your card that has contact information to also inquire about in-home care. Medicare has contact numbers for also finding in-home help. Senior Health Insurance Benefit Assistance (SHIBA) Phone: 1-800-633-4227 Website: https://healthcare.oregon.gov/shiba I do not know if you have a Medicare Advantage plan like Atrio. If you have Atrio you can call 1-877-672-8620 for their customer service. They have social workers who can also arrange for in-home help and other services. If you have some coverage by the Oregon Health Plan, their number to call for in-home help is: 1-800-273-0557 I don't think that most of the K-BAR-A members are capable of providing the in-home help that you need for your healthcare issues. Indeed, they are there because they are interested in ham radio. While most of the club is willing to provide some help, that help should be with ham-radio related issues, not complex in-home medical care that you seem to need. That is why state, county, and health-insurance related entities are geared up to do exactly that. If you ham radio problem, certainly K-BAR-A is there to help. Best wishes, Alan KF3KF
