Struts

I’m adding struts ?a new hexbeam I’m building because lost the last one in a ice storm.
this is where I’m at, anyone done this before.?
I know G3TXQ has a kit. The poles I’m using are 9mm sold as chimney cleaning fiberglass rods.?

That should work! I'd still have a hexbeam if I had done that. ?JS6TMW

Here it is with two on and finally will have 6. They are to replace the 6 ice cords and I was also thinking adding some short ice cords around 6m wire position?

Brilliant idea!??

I'm trying to understand how the struts could perform better than similarly situated ice cords?

Neither has lateral stability, and both essentially resist movement in one direction only.

What am I missing?

Moves less in the wind and the main issue when hex is full of ice is the wind movement afterwards.?
The struts will stop the inward movement from the sides, most times the spreaders break close to the baseplate.?

Got it. Both resist movement away from the center, but struts resist movement toward the center. Interesting!
