IC-7100 cw keyer access from Logger32?
Hi, all,
I recently won a brand new IC-7100 at Hamvention.? My first brand new radio other than a kit.? Sweet!
?
I have been using Logger32 for many years, so the first order of business was hooking it up.? Digging deeper in the manual, I realized that this rig supports a CI-V interface for text-to-code.? I still copy at 25wpm, so I figured I would set aside my WinKeyer and gain back a little space on my desk.? I was sad to realize that I cannot seem to figure out how to interface with this rig's keyer through CI-V.? I saw some stuff in the manual about being able to use a CAT based keyer using the Radio Control Panel (2.1.3), but if I understand correctly, that would not let me type free text to the keyer.? I would only be able to do that from the CW Machine interface, and if I understand correctly, CW Machine only supports WinKeyer and "Software Keying, which is very different from CAT keying.??
?
I just wanted to make sure I am not missing something.? I guess I could just pull out the trusty WinKeyer again, but it seemed like such a shame not to use the new rig's features.? (I know the 7100 was released in 2012, but it is a brand new radio)

Mark Do you want to key (CW) via serial port line (DTR or RTS) ? I checked ic7100 manual. Unfortunately, ic7100 does not support serial port line keying. Check "Set mode" section in ic7100 manual again You may use WinKey mode or software mode. You need the proper level convertor if you use software mode. 73 de aki JA1NLX

You will get better cw with the winkey than the CI-V. 73 Ken ZL4NR? On Sun, 25 May 2025, 4:01?pm w8gu via , <w8gu=[email protected]> wrote:
