Time to sign up for ARRL Field Day 2025
Hi, Hambuds!
?
?? ARRL Field Day is just over a month away, June 28-29.? We have the Railroad Pavilion at the Southwest Regional Park reserved for the weekend.? Up to two (2) RVs are allowed.? Feel free to bring you own or rented.
?
?? It's time to sign up.? We need several people to bring complete stations - radio(s), antenna(s), coax, batteries, laptops, etc, and other people to come out and operate for an hour or two.? I will be bringing one station.? Most people who have operated in the past have used battery(ies) to power their radios, and I expect we will do the same this year.? Our logging laptops can be powered from the electrical grid.? Therefore, I don't think we need any generators.? If anyone has networking equipment and/or a second laptop for our main logging database, please bring them.? We will be using the N3FJP ARRL Field Day contest logging software.? Please intall the latest version on you laptop.
?
?? The Hambuds will not be providing any food as a club, so plan on bringing your own water, drinks and snacks.
?
?? We need someone to volunteer to be a Safety Officer for the event.? The duties are listed on the ARRL Field Day web site.? I'll post the Field Day rules in a later post.
?
?? We appreciate any and all to come out Saturday morning after breakfast to help us set up antennas and stations.? Also, people helping take down everything on Sunday afternoon is appreciated as well.
?
Thanks, and have a good weekend!

Tim L.

Hi, Steve! ?? We don't really have a sign up sheet.? Most people just reply to this message stating what they will bring, and perhaps what time(s) they are planning to be at the pavilion.? ?? Looking forward to seeing you (and everyone) there at the pavilion for Field Day!! 73, Tim L. On Fri, May 9, 2025 at 8:22?PM Steve Roberts - ko5hx via <robers97=[email protected]> wrote:

Hi Tim,? I am hoping to bring my FT-891 and a small transmitting loop (magloop - mounted low to ground) to run FT8. Maybe 20m, 17m, 15m and possibly 40m. The 891 doesn't have an internal tuner, so the variable cap in the magloop will serve as the tuner.
?
The magloops, as you know, work best by sitting on one frequency and calling CQ, so besides FT8, others might want to use my 891 and loop to call CQ in CW mode using low power. Tuning the variable capacitor may be remote or manual while checking SWR using a nanoVNA.
?
I could use battery power, generator or shore power as we have available. I do have a Lithium battery available, but I have not used it yet with the 891. (May need to use my buck DC-DC voltage board)
?
I would likely only do Saturday afternoon and evening, but could leave my rig and setup if others wanted to use it on Sunday morning.
