Can someone answer these questions and point me to an install package that works on Window 10 under a version (?0 of Hercules |
Hello!
You're going have to give us more information. Starting with how did you install Hercules itself. And even what is the emulator presenting to you. Screenshots are allowed. Also there are two distinctive examples of VM/370 available. One is the original Two disk system. I have set it up using an older release of Hercules. The other is the better at it SixPack of which there is a known working one and a current Beta of. I normally run mine via WIndows 10's WSL, for which I've installed a copy of SuSe SLES12SP3 and built a copy of Hercules for. DOS/VS I only know of from a sister list, and also from reading innumerable books covering the OS. ----- Gregg C Levine gregg.drwho8@... "This signature fought the Time Wars, time and again." 1. Yes it runs on Windows 10 - Get the latest stable release here:? 2. Try Dave's page:? ? ? The Sixpack version 1.2 is probably what you?are looking for 3. The VM/370 distro above is already configured and ready to run Joe On Fri, Jun 5, 2020 at 8:51 PM <JPAULHAWK@...> wrote: I have tried for days to install the public available OS for VM/370 and some version of DOSVSE. |

If you're using one of the VM/370 distributions (I? think it was the Bob Abeles one)
there is a known issue during installation where it just loops instead of completing,
but it has actually done the work, and if you re-ipl and continue it's fine.
I would personally recommend the sixpack, either 1.2, or the "beta" 1.3 which is actually fairly stable.
You may realise already but you can run Hercules direct under Windows without WSL if you prefer,
either from pre-built binaries for an easy install, or from source.
If you install under Linux many recent distros include Hercules 3.13 as an optional package.
If you want Hercules 4 (Hyperion) on Linux you will need to build from source,
either from the link Joe Monk gave, or the SDL Hyperion Hercules version (just google it),
but be prepared to sort out the package dependencies.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýUnless you are experienced and want a really vanilla VM/370 I would be recommend taking one of the builds with some installed software rather than installing the Bob Abeles original files. It really is very basic, no mods to the Editor and its missing a pile of commands that most folks think of as being ¡°normal¡± VM commands. If you are determined, you can avoid the loop by adding ¡°LEAVE¡± to the ¡°INPUT¡± statements. On the DDR restore. ? Dave G4UGM ? ? Well i followed Professor Rene Ferland youtube vidio.? He does an excellent job at describing how to install and operate.? However I can not seem to get the VM/370 logon screen to appear.? ?Not sure how to get to a normal VM logon screen.? I am doing this in two parts.? First part is to bring up just VM and test.? Second part is DOS/VS.? Currently I am stuck on the first part.? Screens are attached.? Thanks for all the help so far.? I am really close.
