This group is for all folks running the original IBM VM/370 Release 6 operating system (or later (e.g. VMTCE (Community Edition)) on Hercules. Like the other early IBM operating systems this version has always been in the public domain and so can be freely distributed. The base version as supplied by IBM is lacking in many facilities. IBM solved this by providing additional extension products which were licensed and so are not available. There are however many user enhancements available which can be installed. In addition, in order to get users up and running quickly updated "releases" of VM/370 included the most popular updates are available for download, so novices can start to learn VM without having to delve into the system internals. It is intended that this wiki will provide information on the base release and these updates.
The available versions are here :-

Re: RXSYSFN for VM/370
Bertram, Not sure where we are! We lost the person who built the last version, so there is a bit of a void, but I think we are getting to the stage where there is enough new stuff for another release.

Re: DMSABE141T Protection exception
Best guess is different memory size of the guest VM or saved segment layout. You ought to be able to able to run PER to get an idea of what¡¯s causing the fault but it¡¯s been way too many years

Re: Wondering ...
Try DMKCTC (real and virtual CTCA code), if it is in VM/CE. I know it was in VM/370 R3. The shop I was in ran multiple VMs (homegrown OS in them) talking to each other via CTC. Eventually they got

Is there any recommended set of modification numbers for new work to be delivered as part of VM/370 CE post-1.2? I don't mind filling in some of the low-numbered holes, if that's appropriate, or

Strange indeed that 3270 programs work.? But that's an addition not available in the beginning. CMS only speaks linemode, 3215. But, CMS programs can use 3270 full screen since VM got "DIAGNOSE

Re: DMSCIT171T Permanent console error; re-IPL CMS after TERM CONMODE 3270
Because virtual machines running CMS require CONMODE 3215 (but you don't say if you run the command from the CMS Ready prompt). Cheers, Rene FERLAND, Montreal

Re: VM/ESA 370 (was Re: VM/370 new thrilling experience)
In the late 90s I "ran" a shop where we had VM/SP 6 running on a 4381(P02?) as it had an AP, so that was configured in CP. It was the late 90s, I was itching to get out of that shop as the environment
