This group is for all folks running the original IBM VM/370 Release 6 operating system (or later (e.g. VMTCE (Community Edition)) on Hercules. Like the other early IBM operating systems this version has always been in the public domain and so can be freely distributed. The base version as supplied by IBM is lacking in many facilities. IBM solved this by providing additional extension products which were licensed and so are not available. There are however many user enhancements available which can be installed. In addition, in order to get users up and running quickly updated "releases" of VM/370 included the most popular updates are available for download, so novices can start to learn VM without having to delve into the system internals. It is intended that this wiki will provide information on the base release and these updates.
The available versions are here :-

yep definitely odd. But here's the real question ... why is hercules seeing/reporting it? There's code in IEAVEVAL to trap via FRR a protection exception that occurs due to compare and swap ...

I love the idea of a WIKI for VM/CE. I guess we need to find a place to host our own VM/CE Wikipedia. I found: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_wiki_hosting_services and

Re: It has been awhile and I forget how to get past a power loss
A good point, but there might also be a document, easily found, that says: "What to do if...." for this situation for those of us don't have the experience ( or memory ) of what to do as an operator

Re: It has been awhile and I forget how to get past a power loss
You need to tell VM what to do as it can¡¯t find warm start data. So /cold /force /ckpt Will do what you want. I usually use ¡°/force¡± but I think ¡°/cold¡± is safer but it will lose any spool

Hi, My Windows system rebooted on its own (for an update) and VM didn't shutdown. I'm getting the following on my screen. I can't remember how to fix this situation. Any help would be appreciated.
