Response requested by 9/20: Quick survey on the DHIRT 3
Dear GDHN, This year, the Country Health Information System and Data Use (CHISU) project plans to update the Digital Health Investment Review Tool (DHIRT) based on the revised Principles for Digital Development (PDD), as well as best practices in digital health and health information systems design, and to vet the proposed updated tool through stakeholder consultation with the groups like the GDHN and HDC DH&I working group, as well as the Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL). The DHIRT was developed through USAID funding under the Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) using the PDD and the Principles for Donor Alignment in Digital Health as a guide. The DHIRT was designed to provide an easy to use tool to improve digital health investments that funders, governments, and implementing partners could use to evaluate potential digital health investments, score proposals, and evaluate existing digital tools to identify areas for improvement. We invite you to respond to this brief survey by Sept 20 and thank you for contributing to updating the DHIRT. Your input will allow us to understand how the DHIRT tool has been used and inform our approach as we move forward. Based in the communities they serve, they are a trusted source of knowledge, experience, and health service delivery. CHWs are increasingly using digital tools to support their work, providing opportunities for better data for improved service delivery. However little is known about the impact of technology on community health. USAID¡¯s Country Health Information Systems and Data Use (CHISU) program examined how Kenya¡¯s electronic community health information system (eCHIS) has impacted health services in Migori, Kakamega and Nakuru Counties since the platform¡¯s launch in 2022. Hypothesis Testing in Research: Navigating the Path From Theory to Discovery
Dear Colleagues, We are excited to announce the next video in the HRP Statistics Portal¡¯s Statistics Series. This new video delves into the topic of hypothesis testing in research. A hypothesis enables researchers to define and test their assumptions, laying the groundwork for drawing meaningful conclusions about a phenomenon. Hypothesis testing, based on careful observation or experimentation, is vital for establishing statistical and scientific significance. Knowing which type of hypothesis to use to answer a specific research question is fundamental. Using real-world examples from HRP research studies, the video below highlights the key elements of hypothesis testing and showcases different types of hypotheses: https://youtu.be/pafCY3hH6gg?si=M2Hz-pc9qbqjBtRE The previous video in the statistics series, describing how to craft a compelling research question, can be found at this link: https://youtu.be/5jSrkRuPQus?si=5UZJq2rZRQf3IOab Also, check out the complete HRP Statistics Portal Series YouTube playlist here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDTgGyYD5cYBZ-heuD9_4ZPgDUoSgxR-R&si=S9Q_zENKox4NBYHi Please feel free to share the above videos with others who might benefit from their content. Digital Health Position Paper 2024-2029 - a note from Data.FI project director, Shreshth Mawandia
USAID just published its 2024-2029 Digital Health Position Paper, which serves to guide USAID investments in digital health systems and infrastructure. The main audience is ¡°the USAID workforce managing relevant health-sector investments and activities across the program cycle.¡± The Position Paper reaffirms the four priorities introduced in the 2020 USAID Digital Health Vision, and puts forward six practices in order to guide and operationalize those priorities. The document is a useful resource for any partners or organizations in the digital health space. By pinpointing areas of strategic significance and proposing tangible best practices, it can be used to steer program design and implementation, as well as clarify evolving donor needs and expectations. The six practices are: Commit to person-centered point-of-care digital systems Require data standards to enable integrated health service delivery at scale Support country-led governance of health system digital transformation Strengthen data privacy and cybersecurity practices, and related country regulations Deepen engagement with local partners, including the private sector Invest in shared resources that advance the global digital health commons We commend the USAID team for their time and effort in developing this document.
