Yes, it¡¯s too bad about Sun &Fun, but I¡¯m PUMPED to be going to Fort Leavenworth Kansas tomorrow where it will be 39 and snowing. As an added bonus I get to change planes in Atlanta! ?Eat your heart out you guys.?

[Eaa1016] AVwebAlert: Sun ¡®n Fun Postponed Until May 5-10
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Lincoln, Twain, and others At this point, Covid-19 appears to be more infectious and 10-100 times more deadly than either seasonal or swine flu (H1N1).? Given the current level of testing is sadly lacking in the US, no one really knows who's infected or the likelihood of transmission for those infected, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic.? So until more objective information is available from reputable sources, and a defensible plan of action in place to understand and reduce exposure, Sun 'n Fun organizers are correct to postpone the event.? Is it worth the deaths of 100-1,000, or even a handful?? And in the likely event things haven't improved in a month, they should not hesitate to cancel it.? ?And conditions haven't improved, the EAA shouldn't hesitate to cancel AirVenture later this summer.? Bummer. If Higgins isn't bothered by Covid-19, he should plan a trip to Northern Italy, where the government failed to take appropriate precautions, like canceling events, until it was too late.? I suspect airfares are cheap ... though he may have problems penetrating the quarantine zone.??? Brian P.S. I think Higgins meant Yiddish "Oy" as in "Oy Vey", expressing resigned dismay, not French "Oui", expressing "yes".?? ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Timothy Higgins <timothyahiggins@...> Date: Fri, Mar 13, 2020 at 2:31 PM Subject: Re: [Eaa1016] AVwebAlert: Sun ¡®n Fun Postponed Until May 5-10 To: <[email protected]> Boooo!? Bummer.? H1N1 killed around 18,000 Americans...no cancellations!? Oui. ? On Fri, Mar 13, 2020 at 2:24 PM Alex Nelon <Alex.nelon@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIf your doing doing checks of your pitot static system use GS vs TAS ? Test is done at same altitude and indicated airspeed, approximate. ?Darwin It¡¯s ok to have enemies, it means you stood up for something. On Mar 7, 2020, at 8:28 PM, Alex Nelon <Alex.nelon@...> wrote:

Re: TAS vs Fuel Flow
I¡¯m not sure I understand your chart. TAS is IAS corrected for pressure altitude and temperature (actually, Equivalent Airspeed, but you¡¯re nit picking to get that). I¡¯m not sure you can extrapolate usable data using TAS.? On Sat, Mar 7, 2020 at 6:49 PM Steve Murray via Groups.Io <n62km=[email protected]> wrote: Did bit flying today with Darwin.? TAS vs Fuel Flow
Did bit flying today with Darwin.? He was flying and I was playing with engine controls and capturing some data and looking out the window.
Kind of bumpy but great visibility. (Darwin - I crunched the data for 4 way speed checks.. ended up with 4 way average of 166 mph TAS and 168 GS, so came out pretty close.) |
