Security and Privacy for Virtual Meetings

Hi All,

I haven't been reading everything, so I'm not certain if you've seen this. I did see someone in the list serve say
"be careful about downloading Zoom". I was, and others were wondering why. Here's why.

Great reminders of settings/practices that promote better privacy.

Warm Regards, Leilani

I've been advised by someone who has familiarity with these matters that Signal is much better for secure conferencing.

Yes thanks Aryt! I could have posted the last line of the article.

" Given the privacy and security implications, I ( Kate O'Flaherty) prefer options such as?Signal for smaller groups or even open source app?Jitsi, which is also pretty secure."

Sorry! Obviously, I hadn't read the article (having seen a few other reports about the recent problems with Zoom). For much larger groups, apparently FreeConferenceCall.com works well, but it wouldn't have the safety features needed where confidentiality is critical.

No problem!
One more thing though, Jitsi seems to be video conferencing but Signal is like WhatsApp. I don't see a video conference option-- weird.
