Re: Electronic polling for hybrid event
Since you process is asynchronous, why not use a simple instead??
?
Also for the link, I suggest advertising a very simple short URL like
yoursite.com/poll2021 and then have the link(s) to surveys from there is big featured buttons or links.
?
Hope that helps.

Re: Electronic polling for hybrid event
Hi Sarah
One thing that might work is to use the Menti voting link instead - it doesn't need a code, and doesn't expire. You'll find it just below the voting code in the Share window.?
I tend to always use the voting link with groups.

The situation: I have multiple countries participating in a hybrid, semi-synchronous event. There may also be some pre-recorded content shared during this live event. As a whole, participants have a low to moderate comfort level with technology. The event organization has a limited budget for tech licenses.
The challenge: How do we easily direct people toward various poll questions, without asking them to go to a different spot or enter a different code each time? I'm thinking especially of the pre-recorded content, which would need self-paced polling and a code that could be set 1-2 months in advance (to be included in the pre-recording). For live sessions, we could likely simply walk them through something with a facilitator-paced option.
The best I've gotten is to create separate Mentimeter presentations for each session's poll questions, each with its own code, and then sharing the unique code for the question we want them to answer when we want them to answer it. But even this runs into the issue of Mentimeter having a max 14-day validity on their codes.
I've also thought about using a PollEv app in our event's Slack space, but the info will likely get lost in the shuffle of channel messages across timezones, as different countries run through their discussions and recordings asynchronously...
Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

In a worst case, I can¡¯t imagine why you wouldn¡¯t be able to record your video and attach it to the meeting,or to the async conversation flow (or a library) so that people could view it. I use MS Teams some, but oddly, not much for meetings. It¡¯s not ideal for anything, but it mostly works.

Sara, what about using PowerPoint's offline presentation recording feature (), which includes
slide+video+audio options? You'd then save and share that recording in Teams once it's created?
Plus, a huge advantage of using the PPT recording feature is that you can modify the recording slide by slide if you'd like - erasing the recording from that slide that you messed up on, or changing the slide typo you saw after having recorded it. No need to redo the video nor edit out certain parts with editing software.
*** Note: Macs seem to not like this feature...

Hi,
I am not sure this answers your question, and I just joined the group so timing is not ideal but I tought I'd share anyway.
I did run a test when part of the team was off to a second home with minimal (0.13/0.12) bandwith. I throttled the browser connection, and Google doc was like 1/10th of the data transfer. Like a blank word doc vs a blank miro board. I can't find the screenshots I took anymore. You can do it in Chrome, Network, see the data transfered, and also Throttle your speed to check how long it'd take to load with a slower connection
I then throttled the bandwidth given to Zoom. Main insight there is something you might already know but I'd rather call it out :) Both download and upload speed matter. If you have 40Mbit down and 0.5Mbit Up your call is probably gonna be really choppy. People tend to share a single number when they share their internet speed which isn't enough information.
I hope this helps!

Re: online work party ideas please
Thank you, all, for sharing your great ideas here, I might integrate some of those ideas at a future occasion. ? On an experimental basis I created an online festive season space for games and conversations on QiQoChat platform, , intended for larger groups or organisations. I was busy and so too late to get it done in time, but ¡ ? The emphasis is more on conversation than games, but I would imagine it should be possible to create a similar space with rooms for games, where people can move and choose the games they want to play.? This would mainly be relevant for larger groups of 50+. ? Happy Holidays!? Fran?ois ? ? ?

Hi everyone!?
I wanted to update you on the online work party as it just ended and went really well. While I hoped to get out of 'thinking too hard' and using an escape room, as mentioned earlier, you need to book early and have at least 1.25 hours.?
So, we had 1 hour and this is what we did:?
- Log on (people came on over the first 15 mins) - this gave time for chit chat and showing new features in zoom - video filters such as hats, masks, lipstick - these were new to almost the entire team (8 people); I also had music playing in the background (Sarah Harmer, upbeat music)
- The first activity was in Mural - I used the ice breaker template they have for drawing team mates. Everyone had to draw the person on their right in the zoom room. After 5 minutes, we all guessed who the person was using Chat (chatterfall). It was fun and funny. I then labelled all the people. Due to zoom not being the same across screens, we had duplicates (the person got to choose their favourite drawing to keep) and we all co-drew the missing people at the end.?
- Next, still in mural, everyone had to add one post-it note to each person and write a quality they liked or appreciated about the person (a bit corny but team building). I saved the image and sent it to everyone at the end.?
- The second activity was a 2 minute scavenger hunt. People had to bring back to the zoom their favourite mug, the book beside their bed (or last book read) and a third item determined by a random person. To get the random person I did a "spin the wheel ()" and randomly chose. The person on the spot chose an item and everyone went to get them. The wheel was fun and people liked the novelty.?
- Once back, we did rounds of lightening talks to share a story about your mug (why its your favourite), the book, etc. We used chat (chatterfall) to vote on the best of each item.?
- To close. we used the wheel to share a final thought. I removed names after each round.?
- A ?big group cheers and happy weekend. Happy holidays!?
It was a quick, energetic and fun 1 hour work party. I definitely recommend all the tools tested.?
Hopefully this is somewhat helpful.
Have a great weekend,? Michelle
