Zoom's Large Meeting Add-On - my experience
I recently had an experience using Zoom's Large Meeting Add-On for the first time. A couple of things were not intuitive, so I'm sharing them here!
I have an individual Zoom Meeting account with annual subscription and a limit of 100 participants.
First, it was super easy to add the Large Meeting feature on a monthly basis. Through the Account Management / Billing, I could see my account details and the options for "Available Add-Ons." You can add a Large Meeting Add-On to increase a meeting limit to either 500 or 1000 participants.
It was easy to add this to my cart and make the payment. 500 participants is $50/month. Bonus - the monthly fee was pro-rated?as I added this midway through the billing month. So my cost was only $22!
However, the challenge was integrating this new capacity to my account - and I could find very?little in the Zoom Help about this...
Even after paying for the Add-On, my User Profile continued to show a 100-person limit.
Here's what I had to do: Go to User Management - Select User - Edit User to select the Large Meeting Feature. This adds the Large Meeting capability to my user profile and makes it possible for me, as User, to use the feature.
Once selected, this then changed my User Profile from 100 participants to 500 participants
With this done, I was able to successfully run the large meeting!
And when I cancelled the Large Meeting Add-On (as I only needed it for 2 meetings in November), the capacity continued to be available for the balance of the billing month.
I hope this experience is helpful!

Re: Bare Bones Strategic Planning
I love this conversation! I have just started reading Emergent Strategies. Is anyone familiar with that? Seems a way to morph from what is good about thinking strategically into wider themes of non-linear thinking. And I hear you about paying the bills! Hard to be on the cutting edge...aka the consulting edge. Best, Ann

Re: Bare Bones Strategic Planning
Hi David,
All of the strategic planning resources in our library work with very simple tech,?partly because we design for business leaders rather than professional?facilitators. Most rely on no more than some way to talk (aka Zoom) and some way to collaboratively share notes. You might find some useful ideas you can borrow from these resources.?

one last thought,? consider using the Meeting Owl camera microphone. Google it, easy to find. It is good at helping to show who of talking in the group side, something that is otherwise quite hard, unless they stand to talk or use a speaking stick!

Re: Help with a large scale event?
Of the large number of video tools that I have looked at , only Remo and airmeet have the mingle at tables metaphor.
I have used remo for several largish "150-300 people" events.?
Airmeet looks like it would do the same level of engagement. I have had a tour of it. It has some features that remo?is missing "ticketing".? And you have to look at the pricing of each.?
None of the tools (not zoom, hopin, remo, airmeet, google meet, teams, icebreaker, toucan....) do what is needed to run a largish multi-faceted event.?
Some do somethings better than others.?

Re: Help with a large scale event?
Hi Karen I stumbled upon an interesting? conference tool called airmeet.??It's features look very promising. I still have to explore extensively on it.? There is a black Friday life time deal going on now in Appsumo for this.??
Please note that I'm not affiliated with airmeet or appsumo.? As this is a new tool, please try it on your?own risk ?

Thank you so much for your various answers to my question about doing a blended workshop with some together in a room with a big screen and others calling in individually. You have given me quite a few arguments for pushing back a bit on the concept my client has proposed. Based on your feedback I have now suggested a set of workshops that get everyone onto their own computer at least part of the time. Hope to meet with them next week to discuss.

Grateful for the time you took to share your experience!
