What are the best ways to share links during a Zoom meeting?
Hi All, I was mentoring some high school students who put together a collaborative 1.25-hour sustainability forum yesterday evening for local governments and non-profits.? Our minimalist design was a Zoom meeting plus three Google drawings boards (one for opportunities, one for challenges, and one for initiatives).? A friend mentioned that if we used Jamboard we could combine?all three into one link, so that's a better way to do it next time. But it got me thinking about whether there's a general need among facilitators for a better way to share links during Zoom meetings.? Some problems that?I think are happening in many Zoom meetings:
So I am wondering if others on this list feel a similar need.? I'm thinking of making a simple webpage/tool that does this: A facilitator can...
Participants can...
What would be some other functionality that you would want on a tool like this? Thanks for any advice! Lucas Cioffi |

Volunteering tech hosts 19th of May or async during 17/18/19 May?
#tech
Dear all, Hope this message finds you in good spirit and better health. I am reaching out and wondering if you might want to team up with me for a virtual event happening on 17th to 19th of May. Julie Diamond, author of the book '' is organizing her first-ever. At the moment I know that Adam Kahane will be one of the presentors but you will also hear from: Amy Hayes, VP, Global Learning and Development at Meta; Chris Akayan, Head of Culture and Capability at Mirvac, Australia; and?Ilkka M?kitalo, CEO of Howspace.. ? This event will happen on Howspace and we are looking for volunteering tech hosts, specifically to assist on Thursday 19th of May but also during the 3 days to help stuff like recordings, insights and questions and answers 'appear' on Howspace during the conference. ? We will need different tech hosts to cover different hours within the conference. At this moment we specifically need tech hosts to cover 2 to 3 sessions each shift in the following timeslots on Thursday 19th of May: - shifts between 1pm to 7pm CEST: five sessions in total - 12pm to 4pm PT or 3pm to 7pm ET: 3 sessions in total ? If you would be interested, please reach out and indicate your timezone and the hours you might be available. My e-mail is sara@...? Thank you for being you and making the world better by your presence ? Re: Padlet tips?
I really like Padlet, and I find that participants are able to learn it really quickly.
The key hiccup I've encountered is that three folks using Apple devices are unable to move postings.? Those people worked with Padlet's help desk, yet even still, two people couldn't get theirs to work right.? I don't know what was causing the glitch, but it's still there for those people.? ? For brainstorming, I'm not crazy about Padlet.? The reason is that Padlet posts take up a lot of "real estate" on screen.? So if you have lots of people brainstorming and adding posts, I can't begin to imagine how much scrolling you'd have to do to see everything! Personally, I prefer using Padlet for a more structured situation, rather than brainstorming.? For instance, I use it for monthly association board reports, because Padlet can provide simple structure; each board member can input their report in teh one board Padlet; people can embed supporting documents; folks can comment on and rate other's posts; etc.? If you're looking for a simple harvesting tool, you may want to try IdeaBoardZ.? It is super simple to use, FREE, and perfect for brainstorming.? You can combine similar posts into one post; rate posts; categorize (if you think through some pre-defined categories ... can't add on the fly).? "What you see is what you get."? There are no bells and whistles and it's only intended for brainstorming.? It's el-basic.? But sometimes "el basic" is perfect for the situation.?? Hope that helps! Robin Muretisch |

Re: Padlet tips?
开云体育Hi Amanda, I've used Padlet extensively, quite successfully, I'd say is one of the easiest and inexpensive information gathering tools out there. I haven't had any issues with it being blocked, have used it with participant from all over the place, would recommend you check if China has open access to it, as it tends to be the most restrictive internet access (Google apps have many issues there). Have had no issues with people accessing through cellphones or tablets, so bandwidth has never been an issue. Some insights I've had: -Verify the background doesn't hides the (+) button -Do a "Show and tell" to participants, share the screen and show what you expect them to do. -I use the "take a selfie" feature quite a lot, its lots of fun to participants! -The Map feature can also be a quick and easy way to map people all across the planet.? -Make sure access is set to participants can "Write" I have to say I mainly use Stormz for facilitation engagements, but for massive online sessions Padlet has no learning curve and it's easy on the browser in terms of bandwidth demand. And it is visually quite attractive and simple to use in the backend. .?

Padlet tips?
Hello brilliant folks
I'm contemplating using Padlet with a group next week for some simple harvesting and would love to hear of any limitations that I should be aware of e.g. are there a max number of participants before it bogs down? any security access issues such has how many companies have Google products blocked? horror stories like how any participant can clear all the data such as Jamboard's 'clear frame'? does it use a lot of bandwidth for anyone with low bandwidth internet access? is the accessibility too horrible to even consider (I've read through and know they are working on improvements)?? I'm very familiar with other online harvesting tools such as Miro, Menti, Google Slides, Jamboard etc but this will be my first time dancing with Padlet. Thanks in advance! ~ Amanda |

Facilitate the Future - free online conference
Sutra is putting together a free event series called Facilitate the Future. The intention is to provide people with direct experience of relational facilitation practices that they can bring into their own work. We’ll cover transformational experience design, embodied practices, prototyping, tools and technology, and a session on diversity, equity and inclusion. This is our first time offering something like this as one big, free event, and I think it’s going to be really really good ?
I hope you can join us.? Here's the link to register: |

Re: Hybrid Setups
Hello All
A few additional details after a live test last week with the Owl Camera The co-host helper is essential to check the chat . Comments form the distance participants : the feeling is great with the Owl mic and camera! But ...the scene for the speaker when presenting slides forces the camera to zoom and focus on the speaker making the slides a bit fuzzy. SO...use the co-host using the laptop to share slides when required. breakout rooms : ask ONE user per table to use his/her phone with earphones to join a room and interact with the distant participants. Hybrid works! Just make sure everybody understands that it IS hybrid and we need to take care of the zoom participants also. Great fun for the technologically inclined! Re: Hybrid Setups
Thank you all for these fantastic contributions! @Fran?ois, thank you for illustrating (literally! haha) the effort necessary for a hybrid setup that gives great attention to the people online. It's quite enlightening. @Sonja Hanau - The article was great, and very practical. Thank you for sharing your experience and the synthesis of what you've learned. I appreciate you saying something about the importance of equality and managing power imbalance as well. For me this is a major consideration. Also finding the decision point where it would just be easier to hold it totally remote. @Eva - woof, tech support and tech... choreography! Thanks for emphasizing this technical challenge. @Sarah - Thanks for this idea about the in-room advocate. I am amazed at this group's emphasis for balancing participation, especially for remote participants. This is something I'm currently taking away from all of these contributions.? Onwards then! And thank you again. ? |

Re: Zoom audio transcripts
开云体育Catherine -?I’m just curious. Do you have a Pro account with Zoom? And if so, have you activated Live Transcript on you Zoom Web Portal? You’ll find that setting in the “In Meeting Advanced” area in your settings tab. It's the second box under the “Closed Captioning” feature. It looks like this:

Re: Zoom audio transcripts
开云体育Hi Amy,I’m just trying simply to produce transcripts of Zoom interviews. I can’t seem to access “live transcript”, even after numerous tutorial reviews. Possibly there is an issue with my account, and I’ve contacted Zoom. Another colleague mentioned otter.ai as well, and I will be adding that. Thank you! Catherine?

Re: Zoom audio transcripts
开云体育Hmm. I’m not sure I completely understand what you’re asking, Catherine, ?but “Live Transcript” produces written transcripts of what’s being said during your session (which they can be saved). They do need to be edited for accuracy, however. When I’m working with groups where English is not the first language, they often ask if I can enable Live Transcript so they can read what’s being said as well as hear it.?You have to activate Live Transcript through your Zoom Web Portal settings, but it comes bundled with Pro accounts. I also hook up ?(a transcription app with a free version) to my Zoom account and get written transcripts of anything I record. You can actually feed any audio recording into it, and it will give you a written transcript. ? I hope that helps. Amy ..o0o.. Amy Lenzo weDialogue: Virtual?Environment, Real Connection ? ?? Zoom audio transcripts
Hello!
Has anyone managed to produce zoom audio transcripts without a business license? (Which Zoom support told me you need 10 individual business licenses in order to produce transcripts..) Apparently you can do transcripts with Closed Captioning? I haven’t been able to get this to work though. Thank you! Catherine |

Hybrid conference on feminist theory in multiple languages happening now
Hi, All! There's a exciting hybrid conference happening now and for the next 4 hours (also tomorrow) about feminist theory at Duke University.? There are three audiences: in-person participants, online participants, and livestream viewers. I'm sharing the link with this list, because you'll get a chance to see a cool multi-lingual AI translation tool called Wordly which we integrated into Zoom & QiqoChat for this conference.?? Here's the?, Wordly,?and the schedule. The Wordly team is great.? We strongly recommend doing business with them; here's a ?which provides you a 5% discount. One other aspect is that Zoom allows for only one custom livestreaming service at a time, so in order to make this possible (streaming to both YouTube and Wordly at the same time) we first had to stream to a service called Restream.? Restream then splits the stream and gives you the ability to stream to multiple services simultaneously like YouTube live and Wordly.
