Facilitating Group Participation - Blended Learning 7 week program

When:
Monday, 11 January 2021 2:00pm to
Friday, 5 March 2021 2:00pm
(UTC-05:00) America/New York

Where:
Online via learning Management System and Zoom

Organizer: Dougherty, Inc Facilitation Training laurie@... 8159702145

Description:

Learn how to create productive and engaging meetings that people want to attend!

Learn, practice, and reflect on over 21 facilitation listening skills.
Learn to develop purpose driven agendas.

Average employees attend 62 meetings per month.
35-50% of managers time is spent in meetings.
25-50% of meetings are poor.
Additional meetings are held to resolve issues again, and again...

Planning and executing an effective meeting takes time, knowledge, and practice.? Employees are fearful of practicing new meeting techniques in the workplace.?? During this online course, the participants can practice online meeting facilitation with their peers in a safe environment.

Use every tool possible to make the most of your meetings

Wasted meeting time contributes to
lower job satisfaction, negative job attitudes, higher intentions to quit,
lower meeting attendance and diminished effort.

This course includes an eBook copy of the Facilitator's Guide to Participatory Decision Making, authored by the world's leading expert on collaboration, Sam Kaner.? We will breakdown, practice,? and explore the aspects of facilitating participatory meetings.? Studies show that participation in meetings is related positively to performance and greater commitment to carry out out action decided at meetings.

Participation in meetings contributes to
employees feeling valued for their contributions and
employees feeling included in the organization in a meaningful way.

Achieving the highest level of employee engagement requires the participants to have both technological and socio-emotional support.? This support will result in increasing engagement in work activities. Building effective connections, on a human level, increases the development of employee engagement.? Fostering higher levels of employee engagement produces higher quality outcomes.? Highly engaged employees are more committed to organizational success with stronger ties to team members.? Workplace meetings are a powerful tool to achieve employee engagement.

Employees that participate in meetings
improve performance and engage in the decision making process.
They feel safe in providing ideas, inventive thinking, and decisions without negative consequences.

What does the course include?

  • State of the art learning platform accessible via mobile or computer
  • 7 online 90-minute meetings - each practicing a new method or tool (optional - recorded for later viewing)
  • Recorded online meetings for playback at anytime

  • Individual coaching and mentoring for your particular meeting challenges
  • Access to course for 90-days after course completion date

  • 2-3 hours of reading weekly
  • Weekly posting and reading discussions
  • 90 minute weekly online meeting or playback of recorded meeting
  • Additional practice of newly acquired skills, on your own, to share with the group

Hello Sarah, what a question! Expect more answers!!i¡¯m going to recommend my own business, no shame!

Why us? Well there are other good choices here for sure.?

if you go to our website you can download our ¡®How to¡¯ guide for free. If you like the style, you have some choices. You can join our Remote Together Community, a network of 350 and growing, people who have an interest in working, meeting, facilitating, training, and event design and production, all online. We have free learning events, tool talks - next up is Video Facilitator and Group Maps, being led by the boss/lead designer of the two tools! Then Qiqochat in December with Lucas Cioffe, and Circl.es with Dan Hoffman next year.?

Also anybody can ¡®rent a mentor¡¯ at a fixed rate for as long or as short as you want , with Judy Rees ?
We work predominantly with INGO¡¯s and international education organisations. UNICEF use us to train their teams all over the world.

i also recommend checking out Meeting School and Lucid Meetings. Elise has put together some of the best online thinking about remote work and meetings you will find. We have one course up in her school, more to come, and I will give a good discount code to any NGO or charity person who asks me
At Rees McCann we are announcing a new open course that would work for your friend to run shortly, dates not selected, but soon ?

Re: ISO: beginner facilitation training/online

Lots of great options here!

If you're looking for something focused more broadly on day-to-day business meetings and that your staffers can take on-demand, you might find one of the Meeting School courses useful.

We have a few more coming online in the next several months and invite those of you who offer training on a topic or specialty we don't yet have covered to consider contributing an on-demand course to the catalog. Happy to answer any questions.

Hello Beth and Nancy,

Facilitators have been using Qiqo to integrate Zoom + Google Slides + Miro, etc.? Here's a ?where you can create a guest account.? The screenshot shows a list of breakout?rooms on the left and one embedded tool on the right (Miro).??

You can change the embedded tool in that breakout space by clicking?the buttons at the top (Slido, Google Docs, Google Slides, etc).? Click the green button to launch the Zoom meeting for that breakout space.? You can have up to 100 breakout spaces.

The cost is $1/day per participant?+ 1 cent/min per participant.? Please feel free to drop in during ?or to .

I can't quite picture how Slido works for open-ended questions from facilitator to participants. So. . . . I'd love to be part of this experiment.

Hi,

Has someone found a community chat service where members of a community can post information and which translates from one language to another language using AI?

(like Facebook translates posts but I am determined to avoid Facebook!)

Looking forward to reading your ideas, research, thoughts... !

Re: Assessment of online collaborative platform alternatives?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

It might actually be easier to indicate the ones that organizations will not use for one reason or another, largely due to servers based in the U.S. ?For example, Google docs are a no go. Neither is Survey Monkey (although it wouldn¡¯t appear in this list).

In retrospect, it probably is more work than it¡¯s worth, since most organizations run it through their own IT and Privacy groups. ?Just wishful thinking on my part!

Cheers,

David

What organizations do endorsements in a way that is trackable? IE, how would we know about the endorsements?

John, another criteria to consider is whether or not the platforms have received some sort of endorsement vis a vis meeting privacy requirements.? For example, fr many government and other public institutions, Google products don¡¯t make the cut.? So using them in conjunction with Zoom (assuming THAT is allowed) is not possible, even though Google Docs and Google Sheets are great for capturing breakout room content very efficiently.

I am slowly building a spreadsheet of tools.?

I am finding that the nuances of what people?care about, the types of meetings they are trying to structure, and the flow of the meetings varies a great deal. So I am still in the what features are important phase of things.?

You can see the fill list of tools here:

I have a big desire to support "The law of two feet", which is that people can mingle at will.?

I am told that zoom now supports this, but I can't seem to get it to work.?

Airmeet and remo are the only two that support this well enough.?

The first question is: "What kind meeting are you trying to hold?"

1) How big?
2) Will you have a specific flow?
3) Do you need mingling?
4) Do you need small group meetings?
5) Do you need voting, discussion notes, whiteboards, chat backchannels?
6) Do you need facilitators with powers?
7) Do you need many events at once?
8) Do you need the ability to randomize small groups?
9) Do you need the ability to mix two different classes of attendees?
10) Do you need to force everyone back into the main meeting?
11) ....

What are the features that make it possible for you to do what you need?
Then given these features, which is best then becomes possible to answer.

Can you please outline the key features of your meeting?

Hello everyone!
I was sure that someone had started or shared a table analyzing the features of different online platform alternatives to Zoom. I can¡¯t seem to find it now after doing a search. Does such a magical thing exist or am I just dreaming??
Thank you!!
