NOT funny! Have you dismantled one, lately? Oh, maybe it was only
several
gates and a multivibrator, but there IS some "logic" in those, simply to
control charging and on/off! Yep! (The Ni-Cads inside are often still
good for
"other stuff"; you'd think they'd [give out] first, but not always.
Besides, the
EPA-Police will be all over you if you simply trash 'em.)
true...

each toothbrush you buy here has some means of removing the batterys.
many have some sort of "can opener" integrated in the charging base back,
it is a metal cutter that cuts open the bottom of the brush to get out the
battery.
I wonder how many people really notice that and get out the battery...
(Of course i was eager to open it since the day of buying it ;-) )
I have one, the Sonicare "test drive" unit, that has a pair of AA alkaline
cells in it. Or so the paper tells me. It appears to be a completely sealed
plastic case, and I'm not sure what it would take to open it. You guys have
any ideas?

I am SURE most folk just pull the WHOLE mess off the wall, useable cord and
all, and trash the WHOLE thing! Besides: Walmart hasn't carried the
replaceable brush-tips for 'em long enough to replace 'em TWICE in years!
I see, i see, same strategy over the lake too..
change the brush tip shape every 2 month to make sure you have to buy a new unit.....

If you look how many things are thrown away because of nothing.....
On the one hand it is bad, environment and all, but on the other hand it keeps
the manufacturers busy (sadly somewhere in asia only).

Not so sure what to think about it, of course it would be better to make 20 year lasting
stuff and maybe a bit more expensive then, but if those guys in asia make it for half
the money, or much less, and only 1 year lasting people still buy "made in china".

You see, WE can repair our stuff, and get it cheap, so we are not too bad off after all.

Not sure about it, entirely not sure.. somehow it can't be right... but somehow i can understand
the service guys which tell you a bad solder joint is "bejond repair - buy a new one".

To late to think about such philosophical topics..

A?SEALED case implies recharging.? How else would you remove the batteries, which WAS asked "how to?"!

Re: Teleportation

the real trick is reassembling them correctly on the other end.

I for one hope it never happens. It completely redefines all
societies and economies. since you can reassemble something, what's
to stop you from reassembling 2, 10, 100000000 times? the only thing
you cant make is energy (which this process will suck up in massive
units). energy becomes the coin of the realm. It can create an
idylic world. Imagine food created this way (not just a cup of rice
but the finest meal you can imagine), housing, clothing and so on.
But dont forget that you can take the strongest, fiercest warrior and
dup him off a few million times to conquer the world. Or reconstruct
a nuclear bomb with 2 seconds left on it. Or create a plague of
locusts. imagine a terrorist with such a device. shudder.

good thing its all just fantasy...

There is SURELY a misunderstanding SOMEwhere!? Alkalines are NOT rechargeable, so the PRINTER of the "paper" or YOU are confused!

Right.

Maybe we need an honest politician who is familiar with military
intelligence to review teleportation with serious scientific
details.

These are typically available in 64 pins and you break away as many
as you need. Makes a simple way to get a DIP socket.

Teleportation.... yah.....

it is the king of technology in the nearby future where people will be
transmitted from one place to another within a fraction of seconds. already
the researches are going on and at IBM researchers have researched this
technology and found some success on teleporting the photons of light
successfully.
Yeah, but how do they know that the photon that came out the other end is the
_same_ one that went in???

The problem with using some sort of technology like this to make something be
somewhere else is the part about making it "not be" where it was. If
something goes wrong during that process, you're screwed!

One of the best test equipment I've found for doing what you're doing ....
is a RF network analyser. Tells you at what frequency the thingy's
capacitive ... inductive ... at resonance .... etc.... etc.

Curtis
agree, this wants to make you buy way too expensive "prebuilt" solutions and
also leads to dramatic loss of interest in the basics which in turn leads
to no people who really know what they do in the future, which in turn leads
to electric toothbrushes requiring a 100Mhz processor to turn the motor on/off which
in turn leads to the toothbrush being too expensive and the toothbrush industry
collapsing ;-).

I find rf network analysers a bit expensive... but they are not bad... not vital but not bad at all..
