Re: Thoughts on changing a remote RX and TX.
nearly. latches are easy and tristate IO should be easy (never done). but what i see in the tutorials it is no big deal. rest ok, maybe one may want to add that there are also a amount of latches

Re: Thoughts on changing a remote RX and TX.
I would caution people thinking about X10 or similar protocol to be aware of the relaibility issues. X10 is very succeptable to noise which tends to be prevalent in powerlines and since its an open

Ah, the sockets...we had a discussion on that over at the Xylotex group. Apparently, a lot of the heat is designed to dissipate out of the package through the many ground pins. Sockets would likely

You're looking at a propagation time of only a little over 3 nanoseconds, there... :-)

Re: Thoughts on changing a remote RX and TX.
If the equipment is under the same electrical net, why don't use a communication over mains wires using a Power Line interface and (if desired) X10 protocol? (otherwise use your own specific protocol)

Re: Simple transmitter
I don't think I know enough to do that. I can follow schematics and build circuits, but RF stuff seems like voodoo. I was going to use my Yaesu VX-2R for transmission, but I want to minimize my costs

Re: A3977 Stepper driver (finally) updated.
Looks like a nice design you have there. Here's some feedback for you. I like the use of the ULN2803's to drive the optos. I would fuse each output axis separately. The reason being, a 3 amp load

Gary I was just looking through a book that had video projects, and one was an IR video rx/tx setup that claimed about 300 meters range. All else being the same, he used two 4"x4" fresnel lenses to

Simple transmitter
Yep, me again... I want build a really simple transmitter for my balloon project - I mean really simple. I'm only going to be transmitting CW with it, but I think I'll need about 1/2 watt to 1 watt.
