Trouble Accessing The Site?

umtrr

This may seem ridiculous, but over the past few months I have been
having difficulty accessing my own site!

I use IE 6.0. If I try to hit the A1G homepage (or other pages
stored on my personal startpage gji.home.netcom.com like the kids'
photos, my links etc.) the browser hourglasses for a minute and then
returns a 404 error: "the page cannot be found." Well, of course the
page can be found-- I wrote it!

Clearing the browser's memory cache and temporary internet files
seems to fix the problem, at least most of the time.

But what I'm more concerned about is other people not being able to
access A1G, and thinking that it's "gone." Since the people on this
list are the most likely to visit the site, I thought I'd start by
asking you-- are you having this problem?

A permanent fix would be to move the site over to the main domain
irwinsjournal.com but that would just about use up the space
available to me. Going to another host (free or otherwise) isn't a
viable alternative.

Cheers,
George

I have had problems like that too, George. I didn't say anything because I
have been having access problems using AOL with other sites, although it's
usually the "could not open the site....." type message rather than a 404.

Also, it has usually worked to just hit reload instead of clearing the cache.

So, it appears netcom may have some problems of its own.
