This afternoon, I received what I thought was going to be a
replacement 2435 "Transfer" bay window caboose. This one is brown
with the number across the bay window. The car I had that I was
going to replace was lettered the same way, But it was bright RED!

I will try to get pictures of the two together as time permits.
Both car are still in original boxes, but the red one is missing
some roof details (if anyone has some of these details to part with,
let me know).

Have I found yet another variation not yet documented?

The Greenberg guide has three variations in color listed: tuscan, red, and
yellow. The tuscan must be the brown one (no guarantee). I have only the red one
and George has the brown one on his site. I've never seen a yellow one.

I have two red and one brown version of this car and all three have
the number on the bay window.

One of them is in bad shape, the other two are practically MIB. I
am willing to part with the one in bad shape.
