94' texico tanker.....

Rick Will

Hi all,
I sure haven't seen any of those 94' tankers in years but now since I'm on the look out for those A1G finds, I curious to see that car with the upside decal on it. I remember having some of those cars during the late 60's to 70's but I don't recall having that Texico model. I wonder if those decals were put on by hand and not by stamp as more model n-scale models are. Aren't those early Atlas cars neat? I like those just as much as the MT cars. Did anyone remember the A1G car kits that Atlas produced. I put a lot of those kits together and wish I could find some unassembled ones. You'll never know what will turn up at private sales and swapmeets.
Happy Hunting,
Rick

As this thread has to do with paying attention to what one is doing (the
upside down lettering), I noticed now that I can be counted among the
negligent. I spelled the company name "Texico". Of course, it is "TexAco".

Rick, welcome aboard... I hope to see A1G increasing in popularity as well.
It's certainly easier to assemble an accumulation of these cars than
Micro-Trains cars!

I'm not an expert but I believe that all A1G cars were pad or screen
printed and there was no decaling or hand decoration involved. There was
just too high of a production run for that to be practical.

There will be a page or two devoted to the A1G (more like the "one and a
halfth generation") kits on the A1G site, eventually. My extensive travel
schedule has yet to slow down, but it's just a matter of time before I get
back to the webmaster gig.

Hi Doug,
I'm old enough to know that Tex"A"co is supposed to be spelled with an "A" as there is also alot of those stations around here. Apparently,I wasn't paying attention either...lol! It comes with age I guess.....at least that's what my wife keeps telling me!
