<Kaomin>
?
? ? As he held out his hand to shake his new partner¡¯s Kaomin said, ¡°my apologies for the disappointment. I¡¯m assuming you¡¯ve been briefed on me, so I¡¯ll spare you the gory details.¡± She was young for a detective, and easy on the eyes at least. Kaomin figured it could have been worse, they could have saddled him with a moronic lout like Brewster. Livingston seemed at the very worst inexperienced, but somewhat intelligent, and she moved with a grace that screamed ¡®werecreature¡¯. He decided that he could work with her, at least for a few days.
?
? ? ¡°This here,¡± Kaomin continued, turning his attention to the scene, ¡°was the site of a rather nasty gang fight last night. When they were collecting evidence, our very good friends at S.I.-one found an extra corpse. Seems he had been dead a few extra hours, possibly a day, and exsanguinated.¡± He winked, ¡°that means he didn¡¯t have a drop of blood in him, which is when they called in S.I.-two, that¡¯s us, the vampire hunters.¡±
?
? ? Offering a slight grimace Kaomin added, ¡°oh, and whoever did it stole his family jewels as well. We¡¯ll have to check in with the coroner next to see exactly what bits are missing.¡±
?
? ? He scanned the area again and then passed Romy the file. ¡°I was hoping to gather some evidence, but the whole crime scene¡¯s been compromised by both the gang bangers and the investigators this morning. All we got¡¯s in that file, and on the body. There¡¯s a coffee shop on the next block, how about we give you a few minutes to read that out of the heat?¡±

<Romy>
?
? ? ¡°I know what exsanguinated means,¡± Romy nodded, making a mental note of her surroundings. ¡°I also reeks of death down here and I¡¯m not talking about the actual victims.¡± You would think that the scent vampires left would be metaly, the copper taste you got in your mouth. It was quite the opposite in real life. They smelled sweet, almost vanilla like but in the most putrid way possible.?
?
? ? ¡°The part about them taking the genitals does raise questions though. Means it¡¯s either sexual or personal. Have there been any other cases in the past? Something similar?¡± That possibly could give them something to work with. Robberies or hate crimes didn¡¯t usually end up like this. Possible revenge? Do we know who the victim without his fun bits is? We have a name yet. Again that would be a possible lead.?
?
? ? ¡°Coffee sounds good. You are buying right? I mean seeing as I¡¯m the new girl on the block.¡± That was met with a wink. ¡°New partner and all.¡± Speaking off Romy was rather hungry as well, shifters usually were.?
?
<Kaomin>
?
? ? ¡°Reeks of death exactly how?¡± Kaomin asked with a raised eyebrow. Sniffing the air himself he could only pick out rotting garbage, stagnant water, some sort of diesel fuel, and maybe motor oil.
?
? ? ¡°I hadn¡¯t considered a personal motive,¡± he admitted, ¡°you mean like taking his ¡®mojo¡¯, his power from him? Like a subordinate?¡± The detective scratched his chin. ¡°Might be a good thought, if he was well hung... or rich. Unfortunately we don¡¯t have that bit to work with, do we? We¡¯ll know more when we visit the coroner, first let's get you up to speed.¡±
?
? ? He glanced at Romy. ¡°The first cups on me, but don¡¯t get used to it.¡±
