Angus stopped when Mikayla grasped his hand, surprised but bowing his head in acknowledgement.
"I will stay if Mistress wishes it," he said.? "I am not certain of what use I may be, other than to fetch and carry. Nor am I certain that I qualify as a friend - at least not a proper one. But I will gladly stay to offer whatever support or reassurance I can give."
He glanced at the tome on the bookstand, then looked back to Mikayla.? "I am not skilled at the magic art myself, but I did observe the Master at work for a number of years.? So I do have a passing familiarity with the practice, even if I don't really understand it. But I do know where the Master kept everything that he used in his research. And I might be able to keep you from repeating some of his more... unfortunate... missteps."
"But either way," he bowed again, "I am yours to command, Mistress."
?- Mikayla -
¡°Thank you Angus. You presence is comforting.¡± She said letting go of his hand and beginning to pace. ¡°To be honest, I think he is wrong. I am not magical in nature. I have never done anything magical in my life. I do not know why he began to change. I think there was some sort of mistake. Doing this... I...I feel like if I get this wrong I will hurt him more or worst I do not want to do that.¡±
She sighed coming to stop her pacing before the book. Slowly she ran her hand over it. Feeling the leather under her fingertips. ?it felt electric.
Looking up at the man before her she said ¡°Do you think this is wise Angus. For me to do this?¡±
