Cawthornes Travel, Rotherham
Cawthornes have commenced operation of their 2 emergency tendered services today, to paetially replace previous Powells contracts - the A1 (Meadowhall - Waverley) and 5 (Sheffield - Firth Park). One bus is needed, working am peak A1s, dropping on to the 5 for the middle of the day, then back on to A1s for the pm peak.
As this is Cawthornes first foray in to public bus work they've had to purchase a vehicle for this work, hence the arrival of Solo YN03 ZXJ. The registration may ring a bell as its no stranger to this area - new to Yorkshire Traction as their 509 in July 2003, becoming Stagecoach 47289 upon the takeover. Both batches of E400MMCs from the fleet - 10655-10663 from Barnsley, and 11118-11125 from Chesterfield - have gone on their summer holidays to Birmingham for use on the Commonwealth Games work over the next few weeks. They are being replaced by E200s and MAN/E300s returned to use from the reserve pool. Ian |

Stagecoach Yorkshire 09/06
A number of MAN/E300s from the Stagecoach Yorkshire fleet are going on loan to Stagecoach East Midlands at Hull in order to release native E200MMCs from Hull to be used at the Commonwealth Games next month. Transferred over to Hull so far are 22559 (YN57 MYC), 22614 (YN08 JGX) 24184 (SN10 BYV) and 24186 (SN10 BYX).? The first two were already in the Yorkshire reserve fleet, the latter pair have been released from Rawmarsh by E200s from the Yorkshire reserve fleet. Ian |

Hi Ian, It replaces 47323/4 which are both now withdrawn. Nice Solo to drive, not withstanding the Cummins engine vibrations! Optare Solo 47726 (YN10 AGX) which has been out of use since September 2021 has recently been repainted in to the new Stagecoach livery and is now allocated to Chesterfield depot (it had previously spent all it's working life at Barnsley).? I believe it is to replace older Solo 47324 (YN06 UGW). Ian |
