Re: William LIEVESLEY
Hi Maureen
?
The Leeds Intelligencier?and Yorkshire General Advertiser May 14 1821 says: The dead body of a person named Lievesley was found in a field near Gipton yesterday afternoon. It would seem that he had died by the visitation of God. Gipton is a suburb of Leeds about three miles from Kirkgate and the centre so perhaps that was William? I think visitation of God is how they described a stroke.?
?
I can't find anything more - maybe that was William??
?
Same paper - October 5, 1826 - death notice for Mrs Lievesley - yesterday at Headlingley, aged 74, much respected, relict of Mr Wm Lievesley, baker, of The Square of this town?
(that could possibly be William Farrar Lievesley's?grandmother)
?
best wishes
?
Jane?

Re: William LIEVESLEY
开云体育Hi John,I am also trying to track down the death of William Farrer LIEVESLEY b. 1795 in Leeds. He married Harriet HUBY in Hull in March 1816 and they had only one child Robert Huby LIEVESLEY b. 1817 in Leeds. ?Then he married a girl from Nova Scotia and had a family which I found in New York census in 1855 where his mother Harriet had remarried to a Robert TURNER. Have found their deaths, I can’t seem to find the death of William LIEVESLEY and I wonder if after he died Harriet the wife went with her son to USA ? Regards, Maureen

You will not find record of people leaving the UK prior to 1890 - the Board of Trade destroyed them years ago Your better bet is likely to be ion the county that they went to and their immigration records More likely to find them on the Canadian 1851 census but that doesn't cover all of Canada Or they may have gone to the USA and gone over the border. If toy found them in New York in 1855 then it is likely that they went there rather than Canada Regards John Hanson FSG Researching the Halstead/Holstead/Alstead names Researcher, the Halsted Trust - Research website - And my own study of FOSKER -----Original Message-----

Re: William Farrer LIEVESLEY
Thanks Jane, lot to look into. I have some of the info about William marrying Harriet HUBY but wish I could get a copy of his marriage in case it mentions who was William’s father.

Yes I know what you mean when you find some info even if it isnt your tree, but so good to get some “hits”. I recently did a friends ancestry and of course had a great run as her tree
had never been done. I was “heady” on the information, because like you have soooo many brick walls.?

Re: William Farrer LIEVESLEY
Hi Maureen I had a root around? - seems to be very much a Derbyshire name John LIEVESLEY married Sarah FARRAR June 3 1785 in Leeds - he was 21, she was 20 and the daughter?of Hannah BURNLEY. Both of the parish, married by licence.? William FARRAR LIEVESLEY was baptised August 8 1796, in Leeds - father John John and Sarah also had:? John - 1841 census he's living with Maria GORLEY and in 1847 the newspaper reported the death on May 22 John, the second son of the late John LIEVESLEY, pawnbroker of Timble Bridge, Leeds Maria in 1798 (bapt Dec 10) - she married Joseph GORLEY 1819 in Leeds Hannah 1803 June 6 Joseph born Jan 13 1808 baptised Jan 8 1809 - the family lived in Kirkgate? Marriage wise for William FARRAR LIEVESLEY - this looks to be your guy:? The Stamford Mercury (well, actually the Lincoln, Rutland and Stamford Mercury and the Boston, Gainsborough, Grimsby, Grantham, Louth, Newark, Wisbech and Peterborough General Advertiser!) of June 7, 1816 reported that on Thursday the 30th ult Mr William LIEVESLEY? of Leeds married Harriet, eldest daughter of the late Captain HUBY of Hull.? Find My Past says William was 21, born 1795 and lived in Hull, Harriet was 20 and the marriage licence was dated May 28 for Holy Trinity church, Hull. Maybe he just didn't use his full name?? John who married Sarah FARRAR might have been the son of William LIEVESLEY (1748-1820) buried June 9 St John the Evangelist. John may have been born 1774 and died 1815 in Leeds.? William was a baker - the Leeds Intelligencer reported in 1785 that a compact freehold estate situated in the square near the top of Kirkgate in Leeds was to be sold at auction at The Golden Lion November 16 consisting of sundry dwellings, houses or tenements, with the warehouses, dressing shops and other outbuildings now in the several possessions of William LIEVESLEY, Daniel SUTTON, Matthew WALTON, Mr SCURR, George SMITH and WillIiam?YENDLE. The above premises are freehold, situate in a very convenient part of town and very improveable particularly those occupied by Mr LIEVESLEY the baker.? A brief look found William's children: Mary 1775, Sarah 1779, Joseph 1780-1783, Ann buried 1783, Elizabeth buried 1789, Thomas bapt 1787, Robert 1789-1810 and William buried 1794, son of William of Kirkgate Square.? Hope that's some help Nice to find people instead of forever chasing my elusive clan!? Jane? Chasing W(H)ELDRAKE/DRICK, WELLDRAKE - any variation, anywhere, anytime?
