A few years ago, a person I worked with asked me if I wanted a box of "old trains" he had. He had no use for them, so I took them. I the box was a large batch of Varney loco's in various states of repair. I put them away for a "SHORT"???? time. A few days ago I was going through the box and in the bottom was a Varney Yellowstone in pieces and a S.P. AC-12 Cab Forward. The boiler looks like the Yellowstone but was modified to S.P. style. One of the drive frames was extended to the rear / tender. The cab is cast but the front again changed to S.P.? Both drive units are stamped Varney. I was wondering if anybody anything about this unit. The person who gave the box to me was Rex Varney. If and when I can get my camera to work with this computer, I will take photos of this unit.
