Re: PC Port <-> USB
Thanks for the information.
?
Just for future reference I included direct links to the various CBX drivers from that site. ?
?
If anyone ends up using them in a complete in a complete TO HOST solution please feel free to add the hardware/software instructions and the driver file to the files section.
?
For now, here¡¯s some more direct links to the various CBX driver files:
?
?(ver. 1.5.2, 07 April 2020)
?(ver. 2.4.1, 23 July 2020) ?(ver. 2.2.8, 18 August 2020) ?(ver. 1.3.7, 04 July 2019) ?(ver. 1.3.2, 11 June 2018) ?
That site () is indeed an amazingly HUGE repository of driver files, though there does not seem to be a search function, but rather just a great deal of indexing links.
?
Cheers!

Re: PC Port <-> USB
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
There is another option for getting a serial connection on a modern PC, which is a network serial device such as the RocketPort or DeviceMaster from Comtrol (other companies are available and these may not even be the best options from Comtrol).? All PCs nowadays have network ports and most of us have networks.? The network serial devices are small boxes that contain a tiny computer and have one or more serial port and a network connection.? The drivers will make one of these look like a standard serial port on the PC (actually it can be accessed by any PC on the network).? They are more complicated than the simple USB-serial (or USB-MIDI) devices as they are nowadays mostly used for industrial control applications (and probably somewhat more expensive too).? I'm just mentioning these as I've used them for work applications for serial control from modern PCs - I haven't used them for MIDI or RS232 etc serial connections.
Regards, Richard.

Re: QY70 MIDI Interface
That looks quite solid, how well does it work in using the QY70 with the data filer.?
On a sidenote, i remembered that my audio interface (an old M-audio ultra fast track 8r) has a midi breakout cable that I need to try and find one of, Presumably it would be something like the midiman since it's a similar era. I'd just need to try and find one that actually work since its a very specific cable. |
Re: QY70 MIDI Interface
Luckily I have MIDI-OX from the broken MIDI interface I mentioned. I thought that was only for monitoring MIDI lol. How would I go about trying to load a backup onto the QY70 with this software.
Also, I looked into it and a friend of mine who is into synths has had similar issues with the interface I had. I'll probably buy a Midiman 2X2 when my refund for the MOTU comes through lol. |
Re: QY70 MIDI Interface
Had you looked at MidiOX ?

It is free and very easy to use, though I myself use Filer¡ but I did have an issue with a QY70 song restore one time¡ saved fine but wouldn¡¯t restore. ?Mostly I use the QY100 with SmartMedia and a card reader for the PC, but my issue may have been midi cables as well.
?
Often times with windows its old drivers that muck up midi communications, so you could try a bit of device driver housecleaning or try a different pc that doesn¡¯t have alot of midi drivers on it.
?
Just some thoughts.? ?

Re: QY70 MIDI Interface
RE: QYedit I found out that Freezepop released a few songs years back that you could import onto your QY70 in the patterns section via bulk files, as with the data filer it will ask you if you want to import all the files, 1 song, or 1 pattern. But since I can't get data filer to properly send files (but it will recieve them), I can't test how well saving patterns like that works. |
Re: QY70 MIDI Interface
so the SMF type and destination/source is Song, it seems rather than Pattern.
i had had this idea that i could have small midifiles for individual tracks, but it all has to come as a song file. (have never used this lol) the way around is to 'get Phrase' from the Song track - get/put Phrase: i've underestimated the importance of the 'phrase', and its properties, eg: that it belongs to a Style - is this correct? so you start at number 001 for each Style? i'm thinking this is the way it is on the RM1x (which i use more, recently). a Phrase being the contents of a single 'track'. so essentially, if you wanted to import a load of midi into a QY, you send it to a Song first, and then fetch out the bits you might need for some Pattern tracks. nb: i have a QY100, and was a bit disappointed when i saw the import options with that - no direct SMF import/export iirc and concluded that the Datafiler is the way to go - subject to reappraisal of course, if i ever use the SmartMedia card with it. |
Re: QY70 MIDI Interface
Hi Icosahedron
That happens to me one time without apparent reason, I check all they variable, interface, software, Even memory available in they qy, but everything seems ok, it was just they qy didnt play the midi song. The problems was a Lot of midi messages in automatization between notes, I set modulation for midi velocities en several tracks and was to much for the little qy, I cut the number of messages and problema solved. I hope that helps. Cheers. |
Re: QY70 MIDI Interface
Someone in an earlier post mentioned having success using?SysEx Librarian. ?Might be worth a try with your current MIDI cables.
Also check some of the most recent post about backing up I believe someone mentioned some thing about the brand of MIDI cables they use. Welcome to the group! -- ¡°The longest journey starts with the first step." ?- Lao Tzu |
