TX81z and SoundDiver users ...

Hello,

I am new to this group and new to hardware synthesisers altogether.
I discovered synthesis through software versions and now i want to
buy a TX81z i saw for a decent price ( ?50)

I am planning to use it with SoundDiver from Emagic which i got hold
of already. I saw on Emagic's site that there is a bug in the TX81 os
versions under 1.4 ( not inclusive) which prevents sound editing.

Is there anyone using SoundDiver with a TX81z by any chance ?

Does sound editing ( sysex transfer ) work with other programs ?

The os on the tx i am going to buy is version 1.1 by the way ..

I really want to edit the sounds and use ones made by others so i
need to know this. I would greatly appreciate any help and comments
on this ..

Thanks in advance !

PS: Native Instruments ( ) is going
to release a software emulation of the DX7 called FM7. In theory
there should be no difference between the sound of the original and
its recreation, since i understand a DX7 is a "digital synth". Well
of course, the D/A's used to be 12bit, but i don't think my
soundcard's 4 extra bits can hurt .. I don't know if they implemented
a bit reduction feature to take this into account though
Let's wait and .. hear

Mine had V1.0 software. I rang Yamaha spares and ordered the last
version chip (V1.6) In mine the chip was socketed so was dead easy to
change.

Unfortunately you can't copy parameters (envelopes ...) with Sounddiver
adaptions, that's why I find Unisyn to be a better choice to edit the TX81z...

Thanks for your help,
it's going to be valuable to me ..

So i need to change the OS chip, do you know
how much this costs ?
I guess it's a standard EPROM chip, maybe it
would be possible to reprogram it provided
Yamaha would be kind enough to send me the
ROM dump image .. i doubt it though

Regards,

Da Pelikan
