DX7 programming from PC
I know that there are many libraries of sounds out there for the DX7. Most of them are in .syx format. Does anyone know if SysEx files can be dumped directly into the internal memory of the DX7 by

DX7, DX100, DX21,etc. compatibility
It seems that I've heard that the DX7 can load patches made for the earlier 4 operator DX synths. I don't know about direct dumps from one machine to another but the sysex files might be compatible.

Re: DX100 to DX7 direct sysex dump?
I think sysex dump is not possible. Spending some time learning about both synths and parameter ranges should allow you to get a decent manual conversion. I think the DX100 has only Sine waves, right?

Re: DX100 to DX7 direct sysex dump?
I don't think you can. The DX-7 is a 6-op, the DX-100 is a 4-op. They're not compatible. Jay

Re: Digest Number 15
I haven't played with a DX100. I do have a DX7II with a breath controller. You might try using a breath controller. Look for sounds that have " BC " or " BC1 " (breath controller) in their names. On

Re: DX-100 as a MIDI Controller
I haven't seen a DX-100 for years, but if I remember right (1) the keys were not full sized, and (2) it was not velocity sensitive. It seems to me that (if I'm right about 1 & 2) it would only be

Is the DX-100 a good MIDI controller? I think it has breath control, is that useful? Also, can you switch MIDI channels? I am thinking purchasing one so I would like to hear from users like

What I do with my DX.
My DX7II has been a harp (I heavily tweaked a patch called SUSHARP1) and an organ (somewhat tweaked a patch caled GEORG) in a local symphony. One of the orchestra members has a big 88 key Yamaha
