FC40 connecting cable

Hi, recently got an FC40. As you know the connecting 8 way cable is short, and I'm going to make another much longer one.
My simple question is - how is the cable wired - is it just straight through (ie pin 1 to pin 1 etc?). I bought an 8 way AV cable with the correct mini din plugs (so I don't have to wire up these fiddly plugs - I've done it in the past but it is so easy to melt them!). The AV cable is wired straight through but I don't really want to try it without knowing!
I can of course check and compare with an ohm-meter but would appreciate comments please.
Cheers!

Bill,

After looking at the FT-857 and FC-40 schematics, I see that the DIN-8 cable is straight-through.?

Good Luck and 73,
Eric / K4PYR?

Many thanks - that is helpful.

I bought an Appletalk extension cable, as that is 1:1 and socket to plug. I think the regular plug to plug Apple talk cables "cross-over" so are no good for the FC40.

I used this one at Amazon:

But that's no longer than the supplied cable, and if it really works for Apple it won't work for FC40, or if it works for FC40 it doesn't work directly for an Appletalk. It's a plug on both ends so can't work as an extension cabel.

It's only 10 ft, the supplied cables are 4.9m which is about 16 feet.

Thanks to everyone - I have an 8-pin mini-din 2m male to male straight through cable, cut it and spliced the ends onto a approx. 40m cat5e cable, and it seems to work fine.
