I have no fc 40 BUT an fc1000 by yaesu,,,, I had some spare room in it and put a 1:4 balun on the output side .. Now with a jumper wire I can switch that balun in and can tune dipoles, loops or other

Years ago i had a fc1000 in my car (rf wise almost like the fc40) Problem in almost al setups is rf isolation on the lower bands ¡. A short whip becomes more and more impedance on the feedingpoint
