FT-847 Won't Work in SAT Mode
3
Hello, I have an 847 that won't transmit while in SAT Mode. The radio works fine in all modes, bands and powers at half-duplex and in split mode but when in SAT Mode, the radio won't transmit. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. '73, John N2HMM

FT-847 on 8M?
Has anyone tried using an 847 on the new experimental 8M band? I've been monitoring 40.680 (FT8) for several days without success. Given the time of year, this is no surprise but, I wonder, how sensitive the radio is at 40Mhz. Has anyone tried transmitting on 40 Mhz? Does the wideband mod enable the radio to xmit on 8M? You can contact me via the ARRL reflector. 73, Tom K6EU K6EU@...

60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted
18
Hi folks, I just found this group and am a newbie to it. I have owned an FT-847 since new from 1999 and would like to know how to open the transmit for 60 Meters. As you know, 60 M was unavailable for use back then unless you were authorized for MARS/CAP, but the FCC has opened up this 5 MHz band in 2003 or 2004 for amateur use per the band plan. I have seen several mods that seem different from each other. Does anyone have a known reliable mod for a U.S. FT-847? Thanks in advance, Mark/AE1MS

The power switch on my FT-847 is starting to have issues and while I am in the process of locating where to have it replaced, is it advisable to use the power supply to turn the rig on and off? Thanks in advance

FT 7200 yx band

Hi All. I bought some years ago FT847. Rig is ok and good condition. Some years ago at OH we got extension to 7 MHZ. Here is allowed now up to 7200 kHz, and rsdio can transmit up to 7100 kHz. I have running around web and only mod I found to make it transmit full HF bands. I dont want to that, just missing 100 kHz. Any Ideas ?? 73s de rami,oh6bi

No audio in Yaesu MD-100A8X Microphone and yaesu md-100 A8X

I have a Yaesu MD-100A8X microphone connected to a Yaesu FT-847 radio and when I press the PTT the radio shows a carrier going out and the carrier is being seen by all parties but no audio. Through the repeater.. I don¡¯t think the problem is in the radio because when I connect the hand microphone it works OK. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this but I am a quick learner. I replaced the mic. To radio cord but I still have the problem. Thanks, Steven/kc3dow Note. I posted this on the other ft-847 group thinking it was here. It seems that I was not a member of this group.

Hf+50 MHz power loss
10
Dear FT 847 owners, after 20 + years of honest service few days ago my FT 847 started to loose output power on HF and 50/70 Mhz. Now on HF and 50/70 Mhz it delivers only less that 10 w out. I suspect some "boiled" component in the LPF bank or the final devices gone.... It has been used intensively on 50 Mhz ft8 but never at full throttle power. Any hints for a similar experience are welcome. IK0OKY Emilio

DTMF Microphone?
Hi all, Since the MD-36D8 DTMF microphones are no longer available, has anyone modified something like a Yaesu MH-36A6J with the modular plug? Is there an aftermarket version available i'm not aware of?

DISC (Discriminator Center Meter)

My DISC is way off center and has been since buying. How do you adjust this to get the display to read in the center? My transmissions are find and I used a frequency counter to check to see if I am off frequency. I was told a whole ago that you can access a special menu to make adjustments to bring the display back to center.

FC10 and FC20 on FT840
Can anyone tell me what the difference(s) is/are for the FC10 and FC20? I have an FT840 and recently bought a FC20 tuner but the FT840 says to use the FC10 tuner. I am hoping the FC20 will work instead so I need to know what the differences are. Hopefully they use the same protocol and commands. Does anyone know if the FC20 will work on the FT840 without any mods? Thank you. Jim Pruitt WA7DUY
