FT 7200 yx band
Hi All. I bought some years ago FT847. Rig is ok and good condition. Some years ago at OH we got extension to 7 MHZ. Here is allowed now up to 7200 kHz, and rsdio can transmit up to 7100 kHz. I have

Re: FT-847 power switch
For what it's worth... I did what is shown in the video years ago, paralleling the contacts and adding a 0.01 uf cap. It's pretty easy as the front panel tips down. Never had a problem. And I do turn

Re: FT-847 power switch
I would suggest you do not just turn psu on, it will more than likely have a voltage surge on switch on. Disconnect positive from psu, turn on psu and then connect positive. I have plenty of switches

HI Years ago I had the same problem too. Sooner or later it happens to everyone, it depends on how you use the radio to know if "BEFORE" OR "AFTER"... The first time I shorted the contacts with the

Mine was modified years ago when replacing the switch. Paralleled the contacts so both sets of contacts are used instead of just on side of the double pole switch. 73

Re: FT-847 power switch
As you have to strip down the whole front panel, I would leave it in the on position if that is possible, I would only strip down, if I could find a replica part. 73 Andrew Sent: 21 June 2023 01:18

Re: FT-847 power switch
From what I have heard this is a common problem. I have heard that shorting the switch contacts to the unused pair on the pcb will get around the issue. But proceed at your own risk. I am sure that a

Re: FT-847 power switch
Hi Mitchel, personally I would not do that, might cause problems with the set and/or psu, I would suggest you fit a switch between the psu and the set in the positive feed lead. Leighton. GW3FSP.

FT-847 power switch
The power switch on my FT-847 is starting to have issues and while I am in the process of locating where to have it replaced, is it advisable to use the power supply to turn the rig on and off? Thanks

Hi Hal, this is a circuit I use for all sorts of data modes, this one I made for my Clansman kit. The circuit is always the same just the wiring details change, it's cheap and easy to make. Leighton.

Hi Spence Thanks for your reply. It's funny you should mention using an optocoupler. The one I originally built for my FT-100 back then and still use for my FT-817 uses a 4N25 optocoupler for PTT

Nice interface, Ian. Curious, why use the external speaker jack, given that its output is dependent on the front panel volume control and subject to being mis-set? There is a fixed level audio present
