SV2GS/A update from ARRL
开云体育From www.arrl.org website… ? ARRL DXCC Statement on Mount Athos Operation SV1GA/A 04/04/2025 The ARRL DXCC Desk has determined that the operation by a DXpedition team from Mount Athos meets the??award program’s accreditation criteria. Contacts with the team, which operated in January 2025 using the call sign SV1GA/A, will therefore count toward DXCC. Additionally, due to actions taken by local authorities that resulted in the early termination of the operation, any future operations by this team from Mt. Athos will require additional documentation for securing accreditation for DXCC credit. Mount Athos is an autonomous region of northeastern Greece, governed by the monastic community, and is an entity on the DXCC List. ? 73, Don, N5DD |

Re: SV1GA/A Bad News
开云体育Sounds like the SV1GA/A team has not given up yet, and is approaching legal advice for dealing with the ARRL DXCC desk. ? I still think we should appoint Larry as our emissary to Mt Athos!?? (today is April 1) ? In Ham Sprit, Don, N5DD ? PRESS RELEASE? OF APRIL. 01. 2025 ? FURTHER DELAY ON SV1GA DXCC PROCESS EXPECTED ? We apologize for the long delay of the accreditation process of our recent SV1GA/A Mt. Athos operation. Unfortunately, this process will still encounter some further delays but we would like to state the following: ? It should be noted that it has been more than 35 years since an outside group was able to transmit? from Mt. Athos. The paperwork we presented is in a way unique and as such ARRL is probably looking? into it diligently to ensure compliance. ? Quite recently, Monk Iakovos, SV2RSG was suffering similar pains, during the ARRL process of getting? his activation approved for DXCC.?Although with a long delay, ultimately everything was settled. SV1GA is now in a similar process. ? To speed up the process, the SV1GA team has?approached a former and seasoned ARRL DXCC expert and approached legal advice to help the ARRL DXCC Desk build a complete picture of?this somewhat? challenging situation. ? It is known to us that ?the ARRL accreditation represents climbing a larger mountain than the mountain? itself, for a DXpedition to a rare location, such as Mt. Athos. ? The late Roger Wester, G3SXW used to say that “the country is rare for a reason”! We think that his saying fits well with the Mt. Athos situation today. ? With kindest regards, ?
