Hello All,
?
On Saturday March 22, 2025 GHRC will be having a Solder Saturday event from 1-3pm.? The event will kick off with a brief tutorial/refresher on how to solder.? We have come up with 2 projects our members can build.
1). 4 MHz Offset Attenuator for use with a tape measure antenna for future fox hunts.? Cost to build is $15 for the parts.? Cost includes small box, circuit board, and parts to solder on the circuit board to complete the project.
2). 4 position Antenna Switch.? Cost to build is $66 for the parts.? Cost includes box and 20' of control wire.? If less control wire is needed, adjustments to cost can be calculated.? Control wire is $0.50/foot.
?
Eric does have 4 soldering irons for use but if you have one in your tool chest-bring it.? We also have a big magnifier and Eric picked up a couple other magnifiers for use.? I would recommend if you have any tools that will help you to build the project-bring it along.?
?
Please respond to this email thread to reserve your project build and so I can order enough parts and pieces for both builds.? Hope to see you all at Solder Saturday!
?
Thank you,
Stacy KK7CJV

I would like to build an offset attenuator.? If you have a parts kit left for a tape measure antenna I would take one of those also.

Hi Stacy, thanks for offering to host this. I would like to build the attenuator, and will bring my own iron and tools.?
If there are extra ingredients for a tape antenna, I'd take those as well.?
Thanks and see you all this weekend.?

Another great Gallatin Ham Radio Club event--Solder Saturday! We had many members come to build a 4 MHz Offset Attenuator for use in future fox hunts and a 4 position antenna switch. Eric (KE7NLU) gave a brief tutorial on soldering before we all started on our projects. What a great time to get together, learn and have fun! We even learned some new 'dad jokes'!

Thanks Eric & Stacy for a great event it was fun getting together with everyone it's always a great turn out for your events. I especially want to thank Todd WA7U and HARLEY KI7XF and ERIC KE7NLU for your help It's been a long time since I picked up a soldering gun thanks for the pointers.
