Re: 40 meter portable antenna
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI was cleaning out my storage shed today and came across 5 Hamstick mobile resonators.? 10/15/20/40 and 75m.? I have had them about 20 years and never used them (new condition).? I would sell all 5 for $25.? They could mount on a ¡°stout¡± mag mount but are fairly long and at driving speeds might be better in a bumper/fixed mobile mount.? ?They have a 3/8 by 24 screw in base (not NMO or PL 259) , so it is becoming a bit harder to find antenna mounts but they are out there for trucker CB antennas. ??I also came across an old Ringo Ranger 2m base antenna and an old Hygain CB base antenna (20 ft tall) that I tuned to 28mhz and used on 10m for years.? I would trade both of those for a 6 pack of micro beer. I will probably be doing a lot more shack clean out this fall. I don¡¯t my kids to have to figure it all out in the future. ?If you are interested in any of it text me at 406-539-7213 so we don¡¯t jam up the reflector. First come first served. Jim WA7MKN ? Saddle Peak Activation
Hey all! A little late notice, but I'll be up activating Saddle Peak tomorrow morning. Planning on heading up from Truman Gulch, so I should be up there nice and early. No real estimates on time, but I'll hang out at the summit longer than my normal 15 minutes! I'll be on 146.52 as always. Thanks!!

Re: Carolynn¡¯s antenna
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have used the larger sized shock cord. ?You can get it for a pretty reasonable price on Amazon. ?I tie one end to the paracord and then the other to the antenna wire. ?My dipole has been up for about 18 months now and withstands the wind in Livingston.? 73 John, ?NZ7W On Aug 30, 2024, at 11:00?AM, Stacy KK7CJV via groups.io <stroscoe2001@...> wrote:

Re: Carolynn¡¯s antenna
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI'm a bit late to the discussion but,......I used springs (from ACE Hardware) while keeping the rope continuous so that if the spring(s) came loose or broke the antenna wouldn't
fall down, just sag a bit.? A couple of loops in the rope a? foot or two apart, hook the spring in the loops with
the rope between the loops going around the spring (but still continuous).?? My dad's generation used screen door springs, if anyone remembers what those were.? :-) Don, n7flt |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýNo problem...keep as long as you need...it's the backup to the backup.?? :-) Don, n7flt On 8/30/2024 8:01 AM, Carolyn kf7yus

Carolynn¡¯s antenna
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýGood job, except a when a tree is used as a support tying the line off isn¡¯t a good idea, due to the fact the tree will move in a good breeze. I have seen installations which
included a door spring. I was surprised Ace ?has springs that look like they would work.
At a minimum loosen the line as much as you dare to allow for tree movement.
The other popular solution is to put weight on the end of the line. Anything to allow the living antenna support to move while keeping the antenna in the air.

Carolynn's Antenna Projects
It was a beautiful day to be putting up antennas!? Eric (KE7NLU) and I (KK7CJV) helped Carolynn (KF7YUS) install a 20 meter hamstick outside of her apartment.? With her new General privileges she is just chomping at the bit to try out HF.? Eric found a spot on an old AC unit that would work great to hold her 2 meter and 20 meter antennas outside and still be incognito.? Then we headed to Carolynn's church to install a diplexer and the new end fed 80-10 meter antenna.? Installing the antenna on the building was of little chore but the issues began when trying to 'throw' the other end over a tree.? Eric tried tossing the end tied to a tennis ball over the tree with little luck.? Then he tried a slingshot (provided by the ever-resourceful Carolynn) to 'sling' the end of the antenna over the tree.? Carolynn and I provided ample encouragement and support from the ground.? As the day was winding to an end, we all decided on one last chance of tossing the rope tied to a rock (heavier than a tennis ball) over the tree before retreating in defeat to organize a new battle plan.? With a mighty toss, the line went over the tree!!? Success!? Eric tied off the end and now for the true test.? Carolynn and Eric tested the radio with the newly installed antenna.? They were able to contact a California POTA.? 59 both ways!? Eric also tested the J-pole on the Bridger Repeater and Tom (KE7VUX) in Helena was able to give him a signal report.? It was a great day talking radio and helping another ham get on the air! ? |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have the original power cord for my TS-570DG which should
work.? It has power Poles on the power supply end but I could probably find an adapter to bare
leads or ring terminals if I dig deep enough.? :-) ? Let me know, I'm available pretty much
any time.
